Drama on Married At First Sight set as ambulance and police rescue show up after man becomes trapped in hotel infinity pool - before he's carried out on spinal board

An emergency response at the hotel used to film Married At First Sight sent the cast into a frenzy after a man became trapped in a gap beside its infinity pool.

Ambulance and police rescue vehicles gathered outside One Global Resorts Green Square in Sydney's Zetland on Tuesday while filming for the 2027 season was underway.

The man reportedly sustained several injuries and required ambulance and police assistance before being carried out on a spinal board.

The large emergency services presence sparked a frenzy among the cast and crew.

Photos taken by Daily Mail show an ambulance with its side door open parked beside a marked police vehicle, with emergency personnel and medical equipment nearby.

The circumstances surrounding how the man became trapped are understood to be under investigation.

The nature and extent of his injuries have not been confirmed.

The hotel, formerly known as SKYE Suites Green Square, serves as the couples' home during the experiment, providing the backdrop to their day-to-day relationships away from the dinner parties and commitment ceremonies.

MAFS moved its couples to the Green Square property for season 11, which aired in 2024, after four years at SKYE Suites on Kent Street in Sydney's CBD.

Designed by Koichi Takada Architects, the hotel sits within the distinctive Infinity by Crown Group development.

Its apartment-style suites are complemented by a heated infinity pool overlooking Green Square, landscaped gardens, a spa, sauna and gym.

Meanwhile, details emerging from the 2027 production suggest viewers can expect plenty of relationship drama when the show returns.

Former Love Island Australia contestant Zac Nunns has joined the experiment as an intruder, marrying TikTok influencer Vanilla Milla, with his former co-star Trent Woolman serving as best man.

It comes after MAFS expert John Aiken warned that the upcoming season will be the show's most 'extreme' yet and heavily influenced by TikTok.

Those who consider themselves 'terminally online', as the popular saying goes, will find plenty to enjoy when Married At First Sight returns in 2027.

The relationship expert and series veteran revealed that the new season would tap into the dating debates dominating social media.

'We've certainly got some pretty extreme views that I think you'll see, heavily influenced by TikTok. Look out for that,' John said.

When asked whether the new participants hold views even more extreme than sexist former groom Tyson Gordon, who caused outrage with his rants about 'traditional' values, John said viewers could expect more of the same and potentially worse.

'They're always tapping into these zeitgeists that are out there in the dating world,' he explained.

'I think every year we get a different flavour.'

The new season has already been embroiled in controversy after one groom suddenly left the experiment midway through filming.

Daily Mail earlier revealed the participant abruptly exited following an alleged off-camera incident, leaving his bride high and dry.

The departure stunned the remaining participants, who were informed that the groom would not be returning to filming. 

'He was there one day and gone the next,' a production insider said.

'There was no big farewell and no opportunity to write 'leave' at the next commitment ceremony. Once the decision had been made, that was it.'

The exact circumstances surrounding the groom's removal have not been disclosed.

There is no suggestion his exit was prompted by alcohol or a positive drug test.
