If you ask any Dragon Ball Z fan who the ultimate villain is, many will answer based on their favorite arcs. While Cell, Buu, and even Vegeta often top the charts, Frieza often takes the crown in many polls.

Simply put, Frieza is a classic villain, and the Namek Saga is how droves of Dragon Ball fans were introduced to the property. Frieza also returns regularly, showing off the production side's love for them as well. That's why you see them popping up constantly in various projects.

On that note, with a new confirmation from Bandai Namco, we now know exactly when Frieza is returning to the Dragon Ball Z universe.

In case you missed it, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero just celebrated its second anniversary on October 11, and Bandai Namco is looking to the future as of this week. This Fall, we're getting Gogeta (Super) and Frieza (Super), followed by a Tower of Power solo mode in the Winter.

The Tower of Power is a fascinating new aspect of the game, meant to "put your fighting skills to the test" in battles that get harder the higher you climb. If you finish the tower, you can pick up Ki Aura customization options as bragging rights. Solo is coming first, then Team-Up options.

In the Spring, we're getting a Team-Up Tower of Power, followed by free updates to mission mode and survival mode, plus a paid DLC: Super Limit-Breaking Neo. Then, "after Summer 2027," a new playable character is coming, along with more Tower of Power and survival missions.

DBZ Roadmap Final

One massive update is coming in the "After Summer 2027" timeline: Cross-Play. After all this time (approximately three years when it arrives), Cross-Play is entering a beta testing phase, and will allow PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S players to all play together.

Here's a sneak peek at what you can expect from Cross-Play: "The future roadmap also includes Cross-Play, planned to enter a beta testing phase after Summer 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Future Team-up gameplay will let players form a team of up to five members, with each player taking control of one character and facing opponents through individual 1v1 battles. Please note that the Cross Play beta will be tested in a limited capacity. Further details regarding the official release will be shared at a later date. And there’s even more on the horizon. Mission 100 SP, Survival Mode SP, additional updates and new paid DLC featuring playable characters are all part of the journey ahead, with content and timing depending on the platform."

If you're a Dragon Ball fan, you might want to check out Sparking Zero after the "Post Summer" update next year, as it'll feel even more fully-featured than it does already. Expect tons of sales before that date, too. It might be a good one to keep on your wishlists in the meantime.
