Partway through The Singing Blade quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, players will need to clear a bridge of blight to progress. This can be challenging due to how blight is cleared, but there are specific steps to make it easier. This is just one of the game’s many puzzles, but it is important since it is part of the main quest line.
There are a lot of different quests in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, some of which require fighting big enemies, and others require a lot of puzzling. This quest requires a little bit of both, but clearing the blight will mostly involve the puzzle side. Once you make your way to the bridge, you will not be able to cross or progress the quest until it's cleared.
Getting To The Blight Blocked Bridge
Starting The Singing Blade Quest
You will return to a Ritual Site you visited earlier in this quest to find The Singing Blade. Your companion, Harding, in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is particularly interested in the matter. However, you will not find the dagger right away. Instead, you will find a Darkspawn Ghoul at the site and have to chase it into the ruins as it runs away.

Players will be delighted to spot some familiar faces in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, bringing together characters from throughout the series.
You will have a separate piece of Blight to destroy, and a different Darkspawn will ambush you. Finish it off and then follow the path to find yourself at the Beam Generator. This will open up a gate, but when you move through it, you will find yourself blocked by a new piece of Blight.
How To Solve The Blight Blocked Bridge Puzzle
Clearing The Way & Getting Rid Of Blight
As soon as you enter the new area, you will become surrounded by Darkspawn. There is another spot of Blight that you can remove before you move into the area where the original Darkspawn ghoul can be seen. You will then find yourself at the Blight Blocked Bridge and need to figure out how to move on. There is also a hidden chest in the area that should give you a fair amount of loot.
First, use a long-range attack to shoot the red Blight spot on the wall to the left of the blockade. This part should be relatively straightforward. Then, you should run across the bridge as far as possible. There will be a Power Crystal on your right, and you can pick it up. The bridge will disappear, but you want that to happen as it will reveal something you could not see before.
The spot you are looking for is another red Blight spot underneath the bridge. You can shoot it, which will break another section of the Blight blocking the path, and what is left of the Blight will turn red. This will allow you to remove what Blight is left, and you can head directly to the next area.
You do not necessarily have to remove the Power Crystal to see the spot under the bridge. If you stand to the right of the bridge instead and look down, you can spot the Blight and shoot it with another long-ranged attack . It might be easier if you remove the Power Crystal, but there are other options.
However, you will want to take that Power Crystal with you as you move forward, as you will need it to finish unblocking the next area. Take it into the gate room and put the Power Crystal into the empty slot waiting for you. This will allow the gate to open, and you can progress the quest as normal.
You will have to fight the Darkspawn Ghoul as you move into the next area, and there are a couple more Beam Generator puzzles to solve. When you do get your hands on the dagger, you will be swarmed by enemies once more. Eventually, you will be able to claim the Lyrium Dagger for yourself after your enemies are defeated and speak to Harding about it. There are many choices in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and the end of this quest will present you with quite a few.
Once you have fully completed The Singing Blade quest, you will earn some rewards. This includes:
- 1850 XP
- Shortbow For Harding
- 300 Gold
