Players should, however, be aware that there is a point in the game that prevents players from finishing all other side quests.

There is a solid point of no return in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which marks that the final adventure in the game will begin and players will no longer be able to continue unfinished side quests. Thankfully, the game makes it very clear when the point of no return is, so players won’t have to worry about accidentally cutting themselves off from unfinished tasks.

Spoilers Ahead For The Finale Of The Veilguard

The story quest that acts as the point of no return in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is “When Plans Align” in Dock Town. Players begin the quest by speaking to Morrigan at the Cobbled Swan, where they will prepare with their team to confront the gods. After beginning this quest, all side quests and companion quests will no longer be available.

There is still a considerable portion of the game left after starting this quest, so it’s not like Breath of the Wild’s final mission that ends the game immediately after defeating Calamity Ganon. In fact, there are roughly five hours of gameplay after passing the point of no return out of the roughly 80-hour-long adventure game.

Strong Relationships Equal Strong Allies

Dragon Age: The Veilguard gives players a lot of freedom in what order they would like to pursue their quests. Like many other open world RPGs, this means that it is possible to jump into the final questline while being woefully under-prepared. The most important thing for players to be aware of before beginning the final quest is how prepared their team is.

Doing quests related to companions will increase their friendship or alliance scores, which directly impacts how well those companions will perform in battles near the end of the game, like in past Dragon Age games. Portions of the mission may include infiltration or combat, and lower leveled companions are more likely to fail in their parts, which in turn tanks the final mission for players.

Making sure that companions are leveled up enough to succeed will be the most important indication that players are ready. As long as players finish the quests related to their allies and level them up, they should be able to survive the finale of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
