A Slow Poison is a side quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard that gives more insight into how The Butcher sees the people of Treviso. It also gives a hint or two on the mystery surrounding the Antaam invasion. The Antivan Crows, known for their espionage and intelligence gathering, suspect a traitor within the city walls, aiding the Antaam in their swift takeover. The player character, alongside their companions, is tasked by the Crows to uncover the truth.
Companions make no real difference in this overall, except for Lucanis, a romanceable companion. Lucanis has the spells that the boss of this quest is weak to. This will make a semi-unfair fight a lot easier, so make sure to take Lucanis. The quest involves surprisingly few fights, and since the only difficult fight takes place in a tight room with a high-damage boss, bringing a lot of health items is also a good idea. Make sure to follow your quest markers during this quest because it's a lot of running.
How To Find & Start A Slow Poison Quest
Find Out What The Bad Guy Wants To Do
A Slow Poison quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard becomes available after you rescue Lucanis during the story quest, Sea of Blood. Once you've completed that quest, head back to Treviso and visit the Antivan Crows' hideout in the city's Central district. Speak to Teia and Viago, the Crows' leaders, and they will tell you about a missing scout, Dareth, who was tasked with investigating a potential traitor in Treviso's walls. They'll ask for your help in finding Dareth and finding out the truth behind the city's swift fall to the Antaam invaders.

The Best Build For a Rogue in Dragon Age: The Veilguard will revolve around your chosen playstyle and the specialization you want to pick.
It doesn't really matter what you say to the Crow leaders; you'll end up doing the quest anyway. You're going to need to follow the quest marker to the Drowned District, located on the south side of Treviso. Use the ziplines for a fast way to get through, but the quest marker will eventually take you to a warehouse by the water where you'll meet Jacobus, Dareth's cousin. Jacob is being held captive by the Antaam. You'll need to defeat the Antaam guards to free Jacobus before learning more about Dareth.
Where To Find Dareth's Contract
Finding Dareth
Jacob will be set free once you beat the Antaam guards in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Once Jacobus is freed, he will tell you that the Antaam killed his cousin, Dareth. He will also ask you to find Dareth's last contract by finding the dead drop for the contract. You'll need to follow the purple crow graffiti on the walls to find the dead drop or just follow the quest marker. Both will lead you to a rooftop room with a broken window. The dead drop is located on a table in the corner of this room. The contract is to eliminate the Qamekmaster, who is making a poison that the Butcher intends to use against the people of Treviso.
The contract also gives some information on the Qamekmaster's location. It mentions a garrison controlled by the Antaam where the Qamekmaster is believed to be working. The contract advises using the rooftops to reach the Garrison, located in the northern part of the city. This tells the player they must use the ziplines to travel to this area.
How To Find The Garrison
Infiltrate The Garrison
Getting to the Garrison in Dragon Age: The Veilguard means going through a series of rooftops and ziplines. When you get the contract, jump out the window opposite the side you came in. Just keep following the quest marker to a series of rooftops. Every time you zipline from one rooftop to the other, a white marker will appear at where the next zipline is. Most of them are close enough that it only takes a few seconds of running to find them.
You're in no rush, so take your time with the ziplines, as they take a second or two to be ready. You will fall pretty often if you try to jump onto any ziplines before the game has time to indicate you can jump onto them.
While the game advises not to get caught, that really means nothing. The only way you will see any soldiers is if you start straying from the quest marker, which leads to an easy fight. It's just that the zip lines are the quickest and most efficient way to get to the Garrison. It will take about three times through ziplines from the dead drop to make it to the Garrison itself. Once you open the Garrison doors, you'll immediately start a fight with some soldiers. Follow the path from there to get to The Qamekmaster.
Best Way To Fight the Qamekmaster
Best Strategy For This Boss
The Qamekmaster, a grotesquely corrupted elf that looks more like an Orc from Dragon Age 2 and Origins, is a pretty tough fight. This boss can essentially knock your health down to a quarter in a single hit in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The most important thing to do is keep your distance if possible. The Qamekmaster's attacks are a mix of close-range swipes, a leaping attack leaving a lingering explosive sigil, a charging attack, and a damaging AoE blood explosion. Dodging is key, especially for his unblockable attacks.
This fight is all about patience because he's far too strong in a blow-for-blow fight. Feel free to use potions and any healing items because if you neglect them, you could end up beaten with a bag full of HP replenishes. The Qamekmaster is resistant to lightning but weak to necrotic damage. Lucanis, with his necrotic abilities, is pretty invaluable here. Like bosses from any other game, the smartest way to fight the Qamekmaster is to wait for him to try and hit you, dodge, and then attack him.
Rewards For Completing A Slow Poison Quest
Completing The Quest
Once the Qamekmaster is defeated in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, head back to the crows. They will be talking to the governor about the current situation. Nothing you say will really affect this conversation or the reward, so be as open as you'd like. The reward for A Slow Poison quest is 750 XP, which doesn't feel worth all the effort it took to get through the boss, but the strength reward is. The quest significantly boosts Antivan Crows' Strength, specifically 250 points. The above video from Ghosts of Reykjavik should help players if they are struggling at any point during the quest, but thanks to the quest marker, it's hard to get lost.
There will also be an increased bond with any companions you bring. You have to do the quest anyway because this helps you learn more about The Butcher and hurt his cause, so you won't lose any companion bonds doing this. Your companions don't offer much insight here, so you're also not missing out if you decide not to bring a particular companion. Bringing a companion whose bond you want to grow is a good idea. Either way, you're officially done with A Slow Poison in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
