Marvel Rivals, the new hit hero shooter developed by NetEase Games, allows players to compete in 6v6 battles as iconic Marvel heroes and villains. The game has captured the attention of gamers everywhere, since Marvel Rivals has easy-to-understand gameplay, familiar mechanics, and an adorable land shark named Jeff. With all this new attention and options to play on different platforms, players are already hoping to connect their accounts on their PC and console.

While the hero shooter title does have a new season coming to kick off 2025, it’s still lacking some features most players expect from an AAA title. The bad news is that Marvel Rivals doesn’t have a way to connect accounts with cross-progression, but the good news is that the development team behind the game is already working on it.

Marvel Rivals Doesn't Have Cross-Progresssion Yet

The Feature Is Confirmed To Be In The Works

Right now, Marvel Rivals does not have cross-progression, but the developers have confirmed that they’re working on it. As reported by Dot Esports, the creative director of Marvel Rivals, Guangyun “Guangguang” Chen, stated “Cross-progression involves a lot of platform specific rules.”

Marvel Rivals has various maps and modes that might require a different team combination to ensure victory on the battlefield.

Chen continued, “Once the team is ready, once we've figured it out, we'll be sharing to everyone and players will be the first to know.” Essentially, the team at NetEase Games is working hard to bring cross-progression as the game enters its first seasons and players start to accumulate skins and other collectible cosmetics from new battle passes.

Bringing cross-progression to a game like Marvel Rivals, which spans almost every major gaming platform, can take a long time. Alongside the technical difficulties are the internal requirements each platform brings, which is why adding this feature to a big game can take such a long time. It can be frustrating to have multiple accounts for one game, but at least since Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play hero shooter, the investment into different platforms isn’t pricey.

Marvel Rivals Has Crossplay Between Some Platforms

The Game Is Available On PC, PlayStation, and Xbox

While Marvel Rivals might not have cross-progression for players to enjoy just yet, it does have some limited crossplay. Players on PC and console cannot match up with each other, to keep the game fair, especially in ranked, but are able to play together randomly through the in-game matchmaker. Unfortunately, this means that friends on PC can’t enter a match with their friends on Xbox or Playstation, but all console players can match with each other.

For PC players, all ranked matches are kept to PC only, as to keep the competitive edge that mouse and keyboard might give fair for players on a console. Balancing mouse and keyboard versus controller is an entire can of worms that Marvel Rivals is currently not opening by limiting crossplay, which is both understandable and frustrating for anyone who wants to play with their console/PC friends.
