Disney Dreamlight Valley has just announced its upcoming new expansion pass, The Storybook Vale. The brand-new paid installment will be the second expansion pass for the hit game following the success of the A Rift In Time expansion, which was released for Disney Dreamlight Valley in December 2024. Developer Gameloft recently revealed the upcoming expansion pass in a live stream showcase, detailing all the new and game-changing features it has in store for Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Gameloft's live stream showcase exhibited a reflection on the success of Disney Dreamlight Valley so far, with the developers explaining that many of the game's future gameplay decisions are community driven. In addition to The Storybook Vale expansion pass, a new free content update called Sew Delightful was announced for release on December 4, 2024, as well as three more free content updates to arrive to the valley in 2025. However, in the meantime, players of the game have The Storybook Vale to look forward to, and it's just about to launch for Disney Dreamlight Valley - just in time for the holidays.
When Storybook Vale Releases In Disney Dreamlight Valley

The Storybook Vale will be released in Disney Dreamlight Valley on November 20, 2024. The expansion pass will be released in two installments, as Part One and Part Two. The developer's decision to release the expansion pass as two separate installments is based on the idea that each installment of The Storybook Vale will feature a larger amount of new content, with a shorter waiting period for players to be able to continue the game's storyline. It's also been announced that purchasing Part One of The Storybook Vale will automatically give players access to Part Two, meaning there will be no need to spend more money on the pass.
The Storybook Vale boasts a beautiful fairytale landscape, with brand-new Disney characters, villains, biomes, critters, and more. The primary goal in the game's storyline is for players to restore peace to the land by collecting all the missing pages of an ancient magical book called the Lorekeeper. The pages of the Lorekeeper take on the appearance of adorable little origami creatures called Snippets, who float around the new world. Upon receiving a new tool, an enchanted staff, players will be able to catch and collect the snippets just like one would catch a critter with a net.
What New Characters & Villains Are In The Expansion Pass
New Additions From Sleeping Beauty & Hercules

The two Disney villains have torn the magical land in The Storybook Vale apart, and it's up to players to restore it. The introduction of Maleficent will introduce Sleeping Beauty items to the valley, and Hades will bring some eagerly awaited Hercules-inspired items. There will also be two new characters to befriend in the game, including Merida from Pixar's Brave and Flynn Rider from Tangled. Flynn Rider will offer an exciting opportunity for players to reunite him with Rapunzel, while Merida will introduce Brave-themed items for the first time to the valley.
Both Merida and Flynn Rider will come with their own unique houses for players to place the characters in their valleys upon befriending them. It has been revealed that there is one more hidden character to unlock in The Storybook Vale Part One, with all of the signs in the trailer hinting at Aurora from Disney's Sleeping Beauty, which will hopefully unlock lots of Sleeping Beauty reward items and content. With five characters available in The Storybook Vale Part One, Disney Dreamlight Valley players will be able to look forward to the introduction of two additional characters in Part Two, whom are yet to be confirmed.

New Biomes, Items, & Recipes
In addition to the exciting selection of brand-new Disney characters and villains introduced with The Storybook Vale expansion pass, there are also a variety of exciting new gameplay features for players to look forward to. The Storybook Vale contains three new biomes: The Bind, Ever After, and Mythopia. In The Bind, players will find a cozy, autumnal-themed world. In Ever After awaits a fairytale land that is inspired by Scottish and Scandavian folklore, with beautiful glowing flora and giant mushrooms adorning its landscape. Mythopia, the third biome, will excite fans of Greek and Roman mythology with its Romanesque landscape heavily inspired by Disney's Hercules.
Within the three biomes in The Storybook Vale lie new critters, one in each biome, for DDV players to collect and befriend. In The Bind, players can expect to find owls, Ever After contains magical mini dragons, and there will be baby winged horses in Mythopia. Each of the new biomes also boasts brand-new forage including green beans, ambrosia, poppies, buried lightning strikes, porcini mushrooms and more, which means there will be new recipes for players to concoct. There will also be new fish to collect, including wolffish and koi, and it's clear from the trailer that there will be a host of new foliage, including autumn trees and bioluminescent moss, for players to decorate with.

Releasing in November, The Storybook Vale expansion pass will be launched before Disney Dreamlight Valley's final free content update of the year, the Sew Delightful update, which launches in December. The next star path in the game will not be available with the launch of The Storybook Vale, but it will be available upon the release of Sew Delightful, and it will feature a Frost & Fairies theme, complementing the fairytale inspiration behind The Storybook Vale. Between the two releases, players will be rewarded with an abundance of brand-new content, cosmetic items and characters before the end of 2024.
The Storybook Vale certainly seems like a welcome addition to Disney Dreamlight Valley with all of its new characters, generous amount of new content and collectible items. Unlocking the world of Sleeping Beauty, Hercules, and Brave, players can look forward to a series of items that are totally new to the valley, as well as many new gameplay opportunities and new story and friendship quests. If The Storybook Vale Part One is anything to go by, Disney Dreamlight Valley players are sure to be in for a treat in 2025 as the game keeps developing and growing with all of its new content additions as well as community-driven quality-of life improvements.
