The two giants Dorry and Brogy play major roles in One Piece's second live-action series, and as they say goodbye to the Straw Hats, Usopp promises to visit their homeland of Elbaph one day in the future. That future is now, as the One Piece manga's Elbaph arc is currently in progress, with Dorry and Brogy returning for the first time since Little Garden.
That symmetry between mediums provides ample opportunities for live-action One Piece Easter eggs that connect to the most up-to-date manga events.
Loki's Silhouette Makes A Cameo Appearance In One Piece Season 2
At the current point in the One Piece manga, Luffy is teaming up with a giant named Loki, whose Devil Fruit allows him to transform into a mammoth, island-sized black dragon. As the rightful king of Elbaph, a ridiculously strong warrior, and one of few people to encounter One Piece's secret main villain, Loki is one of the most important character additions in years.
As One Piece fans will know, Eiichiro Oda has a tradition of introducing characters as silhouettes before revealing their actual designs.
When Kaido and Big Mom were first mentioned in the manga, they were given rough outlines that didn't even vaguely resemble how they eventually looked when debuting properly. The same happened with Loki, whose silhouette looked more like an upright slug than a giant. Loki's actual design is a long-haired, muscular figure who covers his eyes and wears a horned helmet rather than a crown.
Amusingly, One Piece season 2 finds a way to sneak Loki's silhouette into the live-action show. As Luffy interacts with Dorry at Little Garden, the audience can see wooden models the giant has carved during his century on the island. One of these is quite clearly the Loki silhouette from Oda's manga, complete with small, beady eyes and bug-like crown.
It doesn't make a whole lot of sense for Dorry to honor Loki with a carving, as the pink-haired menace is notorious on Elbaph for his rambunctious behavior and destructive nature, so this is purely an Easter egg for One Piece fans who recognize an Oda silhouette when they see one.
