A brand-new RPG that blends elements from the Diablo and Kingdom Come franchises is set to be released soon, but interested players can, potentially, try it out for free right now. Blizzard’s classic series has been inspiring games for decades, and Kingdom Come’s fairly recent success has already been noticed by other studios. A new free RPG on Steam called Dreadmyst, for example, is heavily inspired by Diablo, though with its unique DNA inspired by other classics.

Now, a new RPG is in the works, and fans of Blizzard’s IP and a bit more grounded high fantasy tales, like Kingdom Come, may find a new home. The new title, which is already on the Steam storefront, is slated for release in 2027, though a specific release date has not yet been revealed. The game can already be tested for free by players interested in it, though the tests are limited and you’ll have to try your luck. Even so, it’s a great opportunity to check out what the game has to offer ahead of its official launch.

The upcoming fantasy RPG on Steam is called Wardens of Avalon. Developed by Runes Studio and co-published by The Arcade Crew and Dotemu, the action RPG is set in a corrupt version of Camelot, in a dark interpretation of the Arthurian legend. In the game, you’ll take on the role of a new member of the Twilight Knights as you progress through the ranks and face the fallen Knights of the Round Table in solo mode or in co-op gameplay.

The co-op mode supports up to four players. Apart from the action-based combat, the promising new isometric RPG also offers resource management as a pillar of gameplay, as you’ll work to rebuild Camelot, establishing new districts and even workshops and buildings that will help you with your gear. This, in turn, will lead to more quests and adventures to partake in under the banner of Pendragon.

Wardens of Avalon is slated for release at some point in 2027, though a narrower release window or specific release date has yet to be announced. Nevertheless, the game is currently undergoing playtests, and you may apply to be one of the participants. All you have to do is request access to the playtests via the game’s product page on Steam, and when the developer is ready to receive more players, you may be selected.

While more details about the game have yet to be seen, especially in the long run, Warden of Avalon is already looking extremely promising with its great looks and gameplay mechanics. If you’re interested, you should try to playtest the upcoming RPG for free on Steam before it’s officially released later this year.
