‘Days of Our Lives’ Actor Patrick Muldoon Dead at 57
Denise Richards will always keep Patrick Muldoon close.
The Wild Things star—who dated the Days of Our Lives alum during the 1990s—shared a glimpse inside the pair’s decades-long bond following his death.
“This is so hard for me to put into words,” Denise wrote on Instagram April 21 alongside photos and videos of the pair. “I am deeply heartbroken & devastated losing you. You were my best friend & my family.”
In her emotional message, she also looked back on how their personal and professional relationship began.
“We met in our first acting class, I was 19 never had an acting job and you were 21 a student at USC doing a recurring role on Who’s the Boss,” the Drop Dead Gorgeous star explained. “And here we are. 36 years later. My whole adult life & I don’t know it without you. The friendship, love, support, respect & loyalty we had was unconditional and rare.”
“You lit up every room you walked into,” she added. “You are larger than life & Everyone was drawn to you. So talented & most underrated actor. And most humble. Everything you did was infectious. Your laugh, your kindness, your wit, your strength, your loyalty, your passion, and your zest for life.”

Denise—mom to kids Lola Sheen, 20, and Sami Sheen, 22, with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, as well as Eloise Joni Richards, 14, with ex-husband Aaron Phypers—also opened up about how the late actor helped her though some of her darkest periods.
“We’ve been each other’s rock,” the 55-year-old explained. “Our memories together are endless. You’ve had my back and protected me more than anyone. I don’t know what I’m going to do without you here. You’re my voice of reason & pillar of strength. Especially during this last year of pain & heartache.”
“And now I need you more than ever, for this pain and heartache losing you,” she added. “We thought we’d live forever or at least into our 90’s. Schweetbabe I will be looking for those signs. I need to know you’re still here with me. I love you so much & miss you dearly schweetbabe.”

After the Melrose Place actor died April 19 as a result of a heart attack—as his sister Shana Muldoon-Zappa told TMZ—Denise’s daughter Lola also spoke out, sharing she always hoped the former couple would rekindle their romance someday.
“When i think of my mom i think of you,” Lola wrote in an April 20 Instagram post featuring a throwback snap of Patrick and Denise. “You guys came as a package and i’m so thankful i got to know you and witness a friendship so pure and special in front of my eyes.”
“I always begged my mom i’m sure she told you that you guys would end up back together haha,” she added, “but i guess staying best friends was better anyways.”
