Demi Moore reveals comment from famous director on Happy Days set that 'completely changed' her life at 14

Demi Moore recently revealed that an impactful conversation she had as a teenager changed her life.

The 63-year-old actress spoke on Kérastase's Power Talk panel last week at the brand's global Chronologiste launch, and recalled a powerful moment that took place before her career took off.

'I remember I was 14 and I was living here in California and I was invited to go see a taping of the TV show Happy Days. And I was so excited to be there,' she shared with Sara Foster.

Moore, who recently fooled fans with a wig, continued: 'The creator of that show was a man named Garry Marshall and I don't know what I was doing or what I was saying – and I did talk to him about this many years later – but he turned to me, and he said, "If you could bottle that energy, you could do something with it."'

Marshall's words stayed with her and redirected her path. 

'That moment, he infused in me a level of, I don't want to say confidence, but a specificity of direction that I needed so desperately; I was able to take something and contain it and direct it towards what I ended up doing for my career,' the Golden Globe winner reflected. 

Moore told Marshall how much his words affected her years later.

'I said to him many years later, "You said this thing to me and it completely changed my life." 

'And he, in fact, didn't remember the conversation at all, but it's irrelevant because what is important that I took away from that is also knowing that we never know the seed we might plant for somebody else,' she noted.

'Don't ever underestimate the impact you might have by giving of yourself to someone else.'

Marshall died from pneumonia at age 81 in July 2016 after suffering a stroke.

In addition to his work on Happy Days, the legendary director was known for directing Pretty Woman and The Princess Diaries.

Moore recently attended the Gucci FW/26 show during Milan Fashion Week, where she sported a bob haircut, convincing fans she'd cut her famously long locks.

However, she revealed at the Kérastase event that the look was a wig installed by Dimitris Giannetos.

'[It was an] incredible moment,' the Landman actress said on stage. 'Just being able to play and step into another facet of my personality.'

That same day, Moore declared on Instagram: 'The long hair is here to stay.'

She showcased her lengthy mane while celebrating the launch of the French luxury haircare brand's new 'Chronologiste Overnight Youth Serum,' which costs $35 (30ml) or $65 (90ml).

The star told People magazine in January: '[Long hair] feels most like me.

'Being able to change my look with wigs and pieces feeds my need for change but at the end of the day I love taking it down seeing my hair fall past my waist. It's like coming home.'

She famously starred as Lieutenant Jordan O'Neil in Ridley Scott's 1997 Navy SEAL-inspired drama G.I. Jane, which required her to shave her head on camera.

'[That] probably was the most illuminating experience and one that deepened my appreciation for my hair!' Moore said.
