Chada Entertainment has taken on international sales rights to Thai supernatural horror “1 After One” ahead of the Cannes Film Market, with a first-look image unveiled.

The project is produced by Taweewat Wantha – whose “Death Whisperer” franchise ranks among the highest-grossing Thai films ever made – alongside Sangar Chatchairungruang of Transformation Films. Wantha built his reputation with “Death Whisperer,” which earned some $15 million at the local box office; its sequel cleared $27 million to place second on the all-time Thai chart. “1 After One” is directed by Bordeekorn Lohachala, whose credits include “A-Ma.”

The film follows Tong, a non-believer whose shaman father-in-law has spent a lifetime trapping malevolent entities inside his own body. When the old man dies without performing the rite that would have bound those forces permanently, they scatter – and fix on his bloodline. What follows plays out across a single night with no exit.

Lead actor Arak Amornsupasiri, known for “4 Kings” and “In Youth We Trust,” plays the central role. Opposite him, Warintorn Panhakarn – who broke into features with “Same Day with Someone” – plays Chang, a long-time friend with a practitioner’s command of the occult whose composed surface conceals a calculating intent that anchors the film’s central conflict.

The production marks Transformation Films’ first collaboration with Taiwanese partners, uniting the genre banner – whose credits include “Suddenly Twenty,” “Inhuman Kiss,” and “Murderer” – with GrX Studio (“The Tag-Along” franchise, “The Photo from 1977,” “Copycat Killer”) and Lots Home Entertainment (“Breaking and Re-entering,” “Suffocating Love”). The film is produced by Wantha, Chatchairungruang and Kanchanapan Meesuwan, with Pornchai Wongsriudomporn, Hank Tseng, and Huang Kun Quan serving as executive producers.

“Transformation Films has always believed that great horror speaks a universal language,” said Chatchairungruang. “Partnering with GrX Studio and Lots Home Entertainment on ‘1 After One’ is a natural next step — these are companies that share our commitment to craft and our respect for the audience. Together, we are making something that will resonate with genre audiences around the world.”

“Fear is a language every human being speaks, regardless of where they were born or what they believe,” added Wantha. “What makes Thai horror distinct is that our fear comes from something deeply alive in us — our relationship with spirits, with debt, with the things we inherit from the people we love. ‘1 After One’ is a film that lives inside that feeling. I want audiences everywhere to carry it home with them.”

Chada Entertainment, founded by Kuek Shee Heng – whose producing credits span the Sundance title “Levitating,” Busan award-winner “Tale of the Land,” and Malaysian box-office hit “KongTao” – specializes in Asian genre content for theatrical, streaming, and ancillary markets across international territories.

“We believe the more local a story is, the more powerfully it crosses borders,” said Kuek. “Thai horror has a distinct language of its own – rooted in folklore, spirituality, and a cultural relationship with fear that no other cinema in the world replicates. ‘1 After One’ is a film that speaks that language at its most raw and uncompromising, and we believe global audiences are ready to feel it.”
