EXCLUSIVE: Writer-director Peter Collins Campbell has wrapped on Grind, his darkly comedic indie thriller starring Jack Haven and Janeane Garofalo, adding seven to the cast: David Zayas (Dexter), Hari Nef (Barbie), Ivy Wolk (Anora), Killer Mike and EL-P of hip-hop duo Run the Jewels, Coral Peña (Task), and John Beckwith (Feud: Capote vs. The Swans).
The film, on which we first reported last August, centers on Ricky (Haven), a hustle-culture-obsessed Manhattan food delivery biker on a mad dash to make all of his rent in one night.
Bethany McHugh produced for Affects Next Day’s Work, alongaide Matty Matheson, Ricky Staffieri and Hannah Welever for their newly formed Super Athletic Film Co., for which Grind is the debut feature. Pic is a co-production with the indie studio Revery, whose Stacy Lorts, Sara Magness, Chrissy Lucas, and Davis Priestley exec produced alongside Philipp Engelhorn, as well as Adam Harris Engelhard, Stephen Mastrocola, Luke Taylor, and Matthew Helderman of Buffalo 8 (Woman of the Hour, Loving Vincent).
Said executive producer Priestley of Revery, “GRIND is the kind of film that reminds you why independent cinema matters. It’s made with true independent spirit, fearless storytelling, and is rooted in human culture. Revery is incredibly proud to partner with this steadfast team of filmmakers on a project that embodies our ethos: make bold work, stay close to human truth, and build with collaborators who elevate lived experience.”
