Brianna LaPaglia Clarifies Zach Bryan Breakup Comments and “Emotional Abuse” Allegations
Dave Portnoy is bidding his BFFs farewell.
The Barstool Sports personality confirmed his plans to exit his BFFs podcast—which he cohosts with Josh Richards and Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia—later this year, explaining that he had outgrown the popular program.
“The subjects don’t interest me at all,” he shared during the Nov. 14 episode of The Unnamed Show, his podcast with Kirk Minihane and Ryan Whitney. “They show me the topics when I go in there, I haven’t done any research, and I’m just ripping apart 18-year-olds, who I don’t even know. I don’t love necessarily doing that.”
Dave—who launched BFFs with Josh in 2020 before Brianna joined as a cohost the following year—noted that he feels he’s outgrown the show.
“It certainly accomplished what I wanted to accomplish when we started it,” he added. “Josh and Bri will continue it. It’s super successful, but yeah, it’s time for me to try the next thing. I had run my course with it.”
One week prior, the 47-year-old revealed that his decision to leave the show had been long in the works.
“Just because I’m getting older, like nearing 50,” Dave said on the Nov. 7 episode of BFFs. “Talking about teenage drama, a little out of my wheelhouse. So, we’ve known this for months, and we’re like, ‘What’s the best way to announce it?’”
However, his plans seemingly changed following Brianna’s split from Grammy winner Zach Bryan, whom she accused of emotional abuse while speaking on Nov. 7 episode of their podcast. She also alleged that Zach offered her $12 million to sign an NDA regarding their year-long relationship—which she said she turned down, deciding to share her story on the podcast.

“I thought I was gonna get on and be like, ‘Hey, I respect their decision, we’re not gonna talk about the Zach thing,” he explained, “‘But I can’t be on it anymore because I have to talk about it if we’re gonna do it.’ And I woke up the next morning, and it’s like, ‘F--k the money, we’re going.’”
Dave and Josh went on to blast the “I Remember Everything” singer in a diss track titled “Smallest Man,” with Dave delivering scathing lyrics including, “Itty bitty Zach, s--tty s-tty tats / Ugly in the face, there's no cure for that.”
While Zach has not addressed Brianna’s claims—or the diss track—directly, he did release a track of his own the next day: the decidedly reflective “This World’s a Giant.”
“Be still, be quiet, this world's a giant / That I don't feel like facing tonight,” he sang on the song released Nov. 7. “I say I want kids / Even though I can’t quit the things that make me childish / But it ain’t all bad.”
