The Barstool family is mourning the loss of one of their own.

Barstool Nashville’s general manager Iga Obrycka died suddenly Jan. 29, Barstool Sports founder and CEO Dave Portnoy confirmed in a heartfelt tribute. She was 28.

“More sad news in Barstool Family,” Dave wrote in a Jan. 30 post on X, formerly Twitter. “We suddenly lost Iga Obrycka this week. Iga basically ran our Bar group for us. If you ever went to Barstool Nashville you probably saw her there.”

The Poland native passed away in Nashville, where she settled down, per her obituary, after coming to the United States in the early aughts. Her cause of death was not stated.

“I would have hired her for any position she wanted at our company because she was that smart and driven,” Dave continued in his post. “Just incredibly sad news and another cruel reminder not to take a minute for granted. RIP Iga.”

And while Iga’s sudden death serves as a reminder to her loved ones to cherish each and every day, those that worked alongside her at her Tennessee home base vowed to carry on her legacy.

“Our heart goes out to her family,” Barstool Nashville wrote in a Jan. 30 tribute, “those that she was born into and those of us she chose to be in her life. There will never be another like her and she will be with us always.”

The post also included a series of photos showcasing the playful personality of the “leader, heart, and soul of Barstool Nashville,” perfectly encapsulating the joyous impact she made on her community.

“At the right time, we will hold a celebration of life that we hope she’ll look down on and smile, and you are all welcome,” the caption continued. “Rest easy Iga. Your memory will live on forever.”

Within the Barstool family and beyond, Iga’s memory will leave a deep and lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

“Her sudden passing created a deep empty space in every soul with whom she came in contact,” her obituary stated. “For so many, she had been much more than just a businesswoman, a very good friend, mentor, and lamp of kindness and generosity in their community.”
