'Daredevil: Born Again' Scores a Colossal Update 5 Days Before Season 2 Debuts

Just when Marvel fans were busy gearing up for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, the show has gone and dropped a pretty huge update about what comes after that. Before the next batch of episodes has even premiered, Season 3 is already moving into production, which is about as strong a vote of confidence as Marvel could give the series right now. With Matt Murdock’s war against Wilson Fisk about to explode again, the future of the show suddenly looks a lot more secure.

According to a social post shared, filming on Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 begins today on the streets of New York. The update lines up with Charlie Cox’s own comments on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he confirmed he had already been shooting the night before.

"I literally finished shooting at like 7 o'clock last night. I'm doing action sequences, and I'm getting cut a lot [in the scene]. And I had all these fake scars and fake blood all over me. And I flew out this morning, got to the hotel, and went straight to the sauna to try and relax a little bit. And there's a guy in there who looks at me and goes, 'Jesus Christ, man, are you okay?' [Laughs] And I was like, 'Oh no, no, no, it's makeup, it's fake.' He was like, 'You sure?' Yeah, it was pretty intense,"

That timing is especially notable because Season 2 does not even premiere until March 24 on Disney+, meaning Marvel is already well into the next chapter before audiences have seen how the current one plays out.

How Good Is 'Daredevil: Born Again'?

Collider’s review stated that the Season 1 finale of Daredevil: Born Again manages to course-correct a season that has often felt uneven, delivering a conclusion that leans heavily into the strengths of the original series while setting the stage for an even bigger conflict ahead. Aidan Kelley felt that, though the season overall struggled with inconsistent pacing and too many competing plotlines, the final episode successfully refocuses the story on what makes this corner of the Marvel universe work best: the intense rivalry between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk.

However, the final two episodes of the show really start to call back to the glory days of Matt Murdock, and not just because they bring back fan-favorite characters. They also establish this IP within Marvel as one that's not just dark and gritty, but one that touches on real-world themes and issues. That's why Charlie Cox's hero has endured as a fan-favorite for as long as he has, and why the future is looking very bright for Season 2.

Daredevil: Born Again will return to Disney+ on March 24.
