Daniel Radcliffe Spoke To Emma Watson, Rupert Grint About “How Surreal” It Is To See ‘Harry Potter’ Rebooted

After 25 years, Daniel Radcliffe is still in touch with his Hogwarts pals as a new class of young actors takes over the Harry Potter franchise.

The 2x Emmy nominee recently revealed he’s spoken to his Harry Potter co-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint about “how surreal [it is] to watch people starting off on that journey, all those years later” on the HBO series adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books.

Radcliffe said that although the trio hasn’t had “a ton of communication about the show specifically,” they’re all going through the same experience while seeing Dominic McLaughlin step into the role of Harry, with Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger.

“It’s one of those where I think we all just know how the others feel, because we’re also feeling it,” he told People. “We have all said, you just see the pictures of these kids, and you just want to grab them and hug them. That’s the impulse that I think that we, mainly, all have.”

Radcliffe and Grint previously revealed that they wrote letters to their onscreen predecessors. With Watson, they starred in all eight original Harry Potter movies, which were released from 2001 to 2011.
