First introduced in 1990 with the launch of tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2020 by R. Talsorian Games, Adam Smasher became more of a household name after his appearance in 2020's Cyberpunk 2077. With his first scene etched on our minds (and ears) six years on, there is no denying that the mercenary cyborg has cemented himself as one of gaming's most notorious antagonists.
If that was not enough, Adam Smasher also made a return in Netflix's Cyberpunk Edgerunners and, with him causing the death of one of viewer's favorite characters, it is safe to say that many of us truly enjoy the ending moments of Cyberpunk 2077.
Adam Smasher in Cyberpunk: EdgerunnersHowever, it seems as though we truly cannot escape Arasaka's cyborg as Adam Smasher saw himself added to one of gaming's most successful titles earlier this month. First teased back in March but finally arriving in May, Adam Smasher was recently added to Fortnite's ever-growing roster with his character being made available to buy on the In-Game Store. Additionally, Epic Games users were also able to bag themselves the skin at absolutely no cost.
This is not the first collaboration between CD Projekt RED and Epic Games, as Cyberpunk 2077's V and Johnny Silverhand were added to the game back in December 2024, but this marks the first time that the game's biggest antagonist also joins the fray, allowing players to take to the battlefield with the cyborg and cause even more destruction. Well, after people have made him perform every dance emote in the game.
Following Adam Smasher's arrival to Fortnite, fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the latest addition, and it seems as though this is yet another win for both CD Projekt RED and Epic Games.
"THE NIGHT CITY BOOGEYMAN IS HERE," One fan proclaimed. Another agreed, adding, "Been waiting for him ever since you guys teased him." However, another user had other thoughts, saying, "Uhh…Smasher has ONE memorable line in the game. One. Please tell me that made it into Fortnite somehow." I am going to assume it did not, seeing as Fortnite appeals to a younger audience. At least I hope it didn't.
Other fans used this as an opportunity to beg CDPR to add other Cyberpunk 2077 favorites to the game, such as Panam, Judy, Jackie, and even male V. At the time of writing, the addition of these characters has not been confirmed, but following the success of Adam Smasher's arrival, adding more Cyberpunk 2077 characters to Fortnite's roster seems more likely than ever.
