Cozy Indie Darling Palia Drops "New Beginnings" Update And Luna New Year Celebration

6 days ago 13

The cozy collaborative MMO Palia has just launched its first update of the year, bringing a "New Beginnings" update as well as the annual Luna New Year celebration. The indie darling's future was uncertain when its developer Singularity 6 faced a rough patch last year. In July of last year, the company was bought out by Daybreak Game Company, the studio behind EverQuest and Lord of the Rings Online, which promised to keep the free MMO up and running.

As 2025 begins, it seems that Daybreak is delivering on that promise, with a new update bringing plenty of new content to explore. The patch notes for version 0.188 are up on the Palia website and include a new loyalty program, wedding decor, and plenty of quality-of-life improvements. The annual Luna New Year celebration will also be returning to the game. This year's celebration will have mini-games, special activities, prizes, and more festivities.

This year's Luna Festival kicks off in collaboration with several Twitch streamers, giving fans the chance to earn Lucky Envelopes and support cozy gaming streamers at the same time. According to the Palia website, players can earn Lucky Envelopes from now until February 11 by tuning in to participating content creators. These Lucky Envelopes can then be traded in for in-game rewards like thematic wallpapers, flowers, an adorable snake plush, and more.

One of the quests you can find in Palia is "Fishing for Answers," which asks you to find the secret spot of The Lighthouse Keeper for rare rewards.

Like last year, this year's celebrations will include fun events like the Hot Pot game of chance, the Chapaa Chase minigame, a wishing tree, a prize wheel, reset stamp cards, and treasure chests for players to find. The festival takes place at the Kilima Village Fairgrounds through February 20, so players who want any of the rewards will need to redeem their Envelopes before then.

The Update Also Includes QoL Update

Update 0.188 will bring in the Luna New Year, but that's not the only update players can expect from the patch. The update also introduces the Zeki’s Loyalty Club, a way to get "up to 1325 Palia Coins for the price of 425 Coins," by logging in daily, according to the patch notes. Some wedding-themed decor items are coming to the game with the patch, including an arch, table, stanchion, and scrolls.

A few other updates included with the update are improved building snapping and an improved quest log that categorizes the quests by type. Players can now also inspect the items in other players' homes when visiting on a Home Tour, so they can easily replicate the decor if they want. Various bug fixes and many Premium Shop items were also added. Palia is kicking off the new year with fun events and updates, making it a year to look forward to for existing fans and beginners to the game.
