Corey Feldman, 54, breaks silence after suffering health scare on flight to LA... and blames 'misdiagnosis' for sparking fan concern

Corey Feldman has broken his silence on his scary mid-air flight emergency that saw him rushed to the hospital earlier this week.

The actor, 54, was aboard a flight from Chicago to Los Angeles on Monday when he began feeling ill and paramedics met him at the gate when he landed.

Sources speculated at the time that Feldman may have been suffering from pancreatitis or gallstones.

However, it was later revealed that Feldman had food poisoning, with his rep telling the Daily Mail that he is 'doing much better' and is out of the hospital.

On Wednesday, Feldman addressed the 'health scare' for the first time in an Instagram post promoting his brand new single, What Am I Here 4?

Feldman said he was initially 'misdiagnosed' by the doctor at the hospital with something more serious than food poisoning.

He alleged that 'someone on the medical staff' leaked the misdiagnosis to the media, which sparked the rumors about him possibly having pancreatitis or gallstones.

'I WANTED 2 TOUCH BASE AFTER THAT BIG OL HEALTH SCARE & LET U ALL KNOW IM ALIVE & WELL,' Feldman began.

'IT WAS A BIG SCARE BCUZ A DR MISDIAGNOSED ME & THEN SOME1 ON THE MEDICAL STAFF SENT THAT MISDIAGNOSIS 2 THE MEDIA IN REAL TIME, BASED ON THE RESULT OF A PRELIMINARY BLOOD TEST!

'HOWEVER IT WAS ONLY FOOD POISONING THANK GOD! ILL B OK. NOW BACK 2 ROCK N ROLL…..'

After setting the record straight on his mid-air 'health scare,' Feldman pivoted to talking about his song What Am I Here 4?, which will be released on June 22.

He pointed out the 'poignant timing' of the release before shouting out his collaborators and giving fans a 'taste' of the upcoming song via a behind-the-scenes video, which was likely captured before Monday's hospitalization.

Feldman looked happy and healthy while standing in the recording booth before getting on the drums to perform with his studio band.

He spent the night at the hospital and underwent multiple tests before it was determined that he was suffering from a particularly distressing case of food poisoning.

Feldman's rep told Daily Mail on Tuesday: 'Corey is doing much better and is now out of the hospital.'

It's still unknown what he ate that might have caused the stomach disturbance.

Feldman had been rushed to the hospital from the airport immediately after his flight landed in Los Angeles.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, Feldman's representative updated the Daily Mail and said that the star was still resting in the hospital while waiting for an MRI.

Although the cause of his mid-air illness was then unknown, his representative clarified that doctors had ruled out gallstones as a possible cause of his sudden illness.

'Corey wants to thank everyone for all of the love and well wishes,' his representative said once the medical mystery was cleared up. 'He has definitely seen a lot of the messages and really appreciates everything.'

On social media, fans flocked to Feldman's Instagram post from shortly before his flight to share their concerns and well-wishes for the Goonies star.

The outpouring of support came after Feldman broke his silence about being snubbed from a tribute to the late actor and director Rob Reiner at The Oscars earlier this year.

On Instagram, Feldman's most recent post featured photos and video of a stop in Gary, Indiana, the birthplace of Michael Jackson, where he paid tribute to the late King of Pop before continuing on his drive to Chicago for a special screening of his 1985 classic The Goonies.

After his health emergency broke, fans jumped into the comments as they awaited news of his condition.

While the comments on Monday had primarily been from Goonies fans who were excited to see him at the screening in Chicago, as well from Michael Jackson fans who appreciated his support for the controversial hitmaker, the comments section was soon overwhelmed with concern for his health after news of his trip to the hospital broke. 

While many fans offered prayers and hopes for Feldman, some turned to him to satisfy their curiosity.

'What happened on the flight bro? Hope your ok [sic],' one concerned user wrote.

'Just saw online you were admitted to hospital 🤔,' wrote one concerned fan.

'Hope you're ok Corey! Sending love,' added a user, as another wrote, 'Sending prayers Corey, hope you feel better soon.'

Some fans referenced one of Feldman's iconic 1980s films in their comments. 

'Praying for you Corey! Goonies never say die!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,' one fan wrote, while another hoped he would 'Get well soon.'

'Thinking of you, Corey. Praying for a swift recovery,' added a concerned fan.

Feldman had been arriving back home from Chicago on Monday afternoon when paramedics met him at the flight gate.

A source told TMZ that he had been feeling very sick on the flight and was checked out by a doctor on board.

The insider claims that the physicians believed the issue might be pancreatitis or gallstones, though Feldman's representative subsequently told the Daily Mail that gallstones had been ruled out.

The Los Angeles Fire Department told the site that they had responded to the airport for a patient who was experiencing a medical emergency. 

A spokesperson for the public safety department said that the patient, a 54-year-old male, was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation and treatment.

TMZ has also confirmed that it was Feldman who was undergoing tests at the hospital. 

The star had a busy weekend as he reunited with his co-stars from the classic 1986 coming-of-age film Stand by Me, including Jerry O'Connell and Wil Wheaton.

The trio – in addition to Dan Pasternack, who served as host – participated in special Stand By Me Live events to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic movie, including one in Indiana on Saturday and another in Chicago on Sunday.

Stand by Me – directed by the aforementioned Reiner – is centered around a group of childhood friends who go on an adventure to find the body of a boy who went missing in the woods. The late actor River Phoenix was also one of the core cast members.

The celebration of the film's anniversary comes months after Feldman broke his silence on being excluded from the emotional Reiner tribute at the 98th Annual Academy Awards in March. 

Many were shocked when his Stand by Me costars O'Connell and Wheaton were invited to take part in the tribute on stage during the ceremony, but the invite was not extended to Feldman. 

'I think Jerry and Wil did what had to be done,' he told Entertainment Weekly while celebrating the film's 40th anniversary. 'It was a fleeting moment, so I don't feel like I missed much at all. 

'I personally was probably maybe a little bothered by the fact that nobody got to speak or do or say anything from their own heart.' 

Feldman said that 'it is what it is' before admitting that 'it felt a little bit like a family reunion I wasn't invited to.'  

But the star added that 'we're not going to use this time to go into my feeling about that.

'Instead I just want to say that I'm with the rest of us, we're all very destroyed that things went down the way they did, losing Rob when we all thought he'd be joining us at some point for this tour and it's a tragedy.' 

Reiner, as well as wife Michele, were tragically killed inside their Los Angeles home on December 14, 2025. 

A source told the Daily Mail in February that Feldman had been 'devastated' that he wasn't included in the tribute, with the Goonies star allegedly viewing it as a huge 'slap in the face.' 

'As the Academy starts to unravel their ideas for the Oscars, one thing they have planned is a tribute to Rob Reiner,' the insider explained.

'They are looking to have Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal on stage and also have Jerry O'Connell and Wil Wheaton from Stand By Me to be a part of the tribute.

'One person currently left off is Corey Feldman, and Corey is devastated that he hasn't been asked to be a part of the tribute.'

The source added that Feldman 'loved Rob and expected to be asked, especially since Jerry and Wil were asked.'

They continued that the star wanted 'nothing more than to honor Rob, and the fact that he currently isn't allowed is an absolute slap in the face. 

'Even if he wasn't on the stage, he'd love to be there, to honor Rob.' 

Both O'Connell and Wheaton allegedly reached out to the Academy 'for some answers' but were 'met with silence.' 

The pair felt that Feldman should have also been 'a part of the tribute' before the insider alleged that organizers were possibly 'looking to snub him out.'

Before the awards ceremony, the actor briefly talked about not being invited on his X account.
