EXCLUSIVE: Comedia Chris Spencer‘s new special G.O.A.T. Adjacent, presented by Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat, is set to premiere on Hulu on February 4.

Taped at the Cicada in downtown Los Angeles with Michael Mihail directing, the special sees Spencer touch on everything from marriage and family to aging, race, and his Jamaican roots. The special was produced by Vanessa Spencer, Will Lowery and Buddy Lewis for Guerilla Hollywood and Bronxwood Productions. Payne Brown, Michael Dobson and Dr. Will Draper served as executive producers.

Hartbeat brought Hulu the exclusive license on the special, in a deal spearheaded by their President & Chief Distribution Officer, Jeff Clanagan, as well as their VP Comedy, Eric Weil. The deal marks a continuation of Hartbeat’s partnership with Hulu after debuting their stand-up series LOL Live with the streamer. The kind of platform for up-and-coming comics that’s increasingly rare to come upon in the streaming world, LOL Live spotlights 10 new 30-minute specials from comics including Chico Bean, Sydnee Washington, Devon Walker, Brandi Denise, and the late Ken Flores.

A comedian, actor, writer, producer, and director with a career spanning over 30 years, Spencer is a NAACP Image Award-winner for co-creating Real Husbands of Hollywood and a Peabody winner for producing the docuseries We Need to Talk About Cosby. He has toured his stand-up nationwide and has two Showtime specials: Chris Spencer’s Minority Report, which he executive produced and hosted, and his one-man show, Chris Spencer… The Other Chris.

Currently, Spencer co-hosts Black Comedy in America on Vice TV via Hulu with Tiffany Haddish and Ryan Davis, a 10-part exploration of Black comedy’s evolution featuring Dave Chappelle, Kevin Hart, Michael Eric Dyson, Angela Rye, The Kings of Comedy, Marla Gibbs, and Rev. Al Sharpton. He is represented by IAG, Vault Entertainment, and JSSK.
