Carrot Top has been hospitalized following what TMZ is calling a suicide attempt in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 61-year-old comedian (real name Scott Christopher Thompson) reportedly tried to take his own life on Friday just hours before a scheduled comedy show at Las Vegas' Luxor Hotel and Casino.

The suicide attempt took place in the 'Las Vegas area' and Thompson was rushed to a nearby hospital, sources claimed. His comedy show was subsequently canceled.

Jami Schlicher, a representative for Thompson, did not confirm the reason for the star's hospitalization, but instead shared that he is currently receiving 'the care and support he needs.'

'Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy,' Schlicher told TMZ.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Thompson's representatives for further comment on this developing story.
