Coco Austin, 45, sparks backlash after posing in matching bikinis with daughter Chanel, 8

Coco Austin and her daughter Chanel, eight, posed in matching swimwear for six new images shared to Instagram on Sunday.

The 45-year-old model wife of Law & Order: SVU actor Ice-T, 66, wore a pink-and-purple two piece suit next to her only child who had on something very similar.

The two held hands and Chanel sat on Coco's shoulders while in their swimwear at the Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas.

'A little rain in Bahamas didn't stop Chanel and I to go out to the pool!' wrote the model in her caption.

'We create our own energy - rain or shine we still got to rock our traditional twinning swimsuits Bikinis - @fedeswimwear.' The hashtags were for twinning, dynamic duo, mommy and me, mom life, besties and twinning is winning.

Some followers found the mother/daughter modeling session 'adorable' but others were not so thrilled.

One said: 'Why is no one weirded out that she's doing a booty shot with her daughter in the photo that's hella weird.'

Another offered: 'Time to make your adorable daughter the focus of photos. Ya gotta know when to fold em.'

Then there was a follower who explained why it was a good thing.

'Some may view this negatively, but as someone with degrees in psychology, I see it differently,' began the fan.

'Coco is instilling self-confidence in her daughter by openly showing the world who she is, contrasting with those who only complain in small circles. 

'This little girl will enter every room with her head held high, fully aware of her value. That’s why I see as one of the most influential figures. 

'Coco, be proud—your daughter will never walk with her head down. You’re equipping her with self-esteem and confidence to embrace her individuality as she grows. This foundation will empower her to choose relationships that truly honor her worth.'

There was also a big fan in the mix: 'Honestly LOVED that picture of you squatting with her pretty much sitting on your lap, that just shows that you can still be you even with a child. You can still be wild and do your thing, and she gets to stay a kid and still hangout with and pose with her momma. I love this so much, hope yall had a good time!!!'

Coco showed off her cleavage, midriff and derriere as she and her daughter pulled similar poses, standing hand-in-hand.

The pair also posed with their legs identically jutted out, on their knees in the pool and taking in the scenic views.

And both the girls wore their hair in matching braids. 

The blonde bombshell had her daughter Chanel with rapper Ice-T - real name Tracy Lauren Marrow - in 2015 after the couple had been married for 13 years. 

In April 2023 Coco took to Instagram to share a dance clip of her and Chanel, which was swiftly slammed by critics as 'inappropriate.' 

The model - who also faced backlash for a Christmas video of Chanel twerking -  shared a post that saw her and the child dancing side-by-side to the tune of a Black Eyed Peas’ 'Boom Boom Pow' remix. 

At one point in the video, she was seen lifting her leg toward Chanel, who then attempts to smack her mom's butt twice.

'Chanel always makes me do these weird dances I just go with it. I stole this from her phone to show you. Lol. #mommydaughter #dynamicduo,' Coco captioned the video. 

The video received a mixed reaction, with many of her 3M followers not amused by the dance routine: 'It is not appropriate for a little girl or her mother,' one wrote. 

Another one echoed the sentiment, writing: 'How sad that that is the new training of parents to children, and worse, that is celebrated by the rest of society, that is why the world is the way it is.'

Yet another commentator simply wrote 'inappropriate.' 

Someone else deemed the performance to be 'Cringy af.' 

'All a** zero brain,' another follower wrote. 

However not everyone understood the criticism. 'What’s weird about this? This is freaking adorable,' a supporter wrote. 

'You are raising an amazing daughter! You always look like you are having soo much fun and that you and Ice are fantastic parents!' another added.

Austin has not yet responded to the criticism. However, this is not the first time she's faced comments in regards to her parenting. 

Just a few months ago she defended Chanel after posting a video where she was twerking in Christmas pajamas. 

Coco faced a lot of scrutiny since she became a mom. In an interview with Tamron Hall, she said that she is constantly 'underneath a microscope.'

During the interview, the Ice Loves Coco star broke down in tears over mom-shamers: 'You don’t hear the goodness, you just hear a lot of bad. And I know I’m a good mother.'

Chanel is Coco's only child, while Ice-T, has two other children from two previous relationships.

He has one other daughter, Letesha, and a son, Tracy, 32, who have both capitalized off of their father's success and are now a part of the entertainment industry.

Coco got her start in the modeling industry when she was 18, and in 1997 she appeared on her first magazine cover for Swimwear Illustrated.

In 2011, Ice-T and Coco starred in their reality TV show Ice Loves Coco, which ran for three seasons.
