Clint Stanaway has suffered a heartbreaking family tragedy, just months after he resigned from Channel Nine.

The Weekend Today veteran, 43, shared a gallery of photos to social media on Saturday, revealing his beloved grandmother had died.

One sweet picture captured a dashing Clint and his elderly nan dancing together at a formal event, while another showed a much younger Clint sitting on her lap.

He captioned the gallery with some sad words: 'An icon left us today. Love ya, Nan.'

Many of Clint's celebrity friends took to the comment section to offer their condolences.

'Sending love to you and your family,' wrote Jasmine Stefanovic.

'The Queen who loved a cheeky cheeseburger,' added Clint's radio star Lauren Phillips.

Meanwhile, sports presenter Danika Mason and Tipping Point host Todd Woodbridge both shared love heart emojis.

In September, Clint revealed the real reason behind his shock resignation from Channel Nine, after 25 years at the network.

He had announced his resignation from Nine in a statement, adding he would continue to focus on his role at Nova's Jase and Lauren breakfast show.

Clint appeared on his radio show and told listeners his decision had been a long time coming since he was no longer as passionate about the position as he had previously been.

'I'm relieved, I've been thinking about it for a while now. I needed to make a decision, because looking back on how I was feeling and where my head was at, I was burnt out,' Clint began.

'I walked into Nine in January 2001 as an 18 year old. That's near on 25 years. I made a really tough decision.'

Clint added he had developed an enormous passion for radio since joining Nova in March 2024, and he was thrilled he would soon be able to fully focus his career on that upon leaving Nine at the end of 2025.

'I did this for six months initially and I became very quickly addicted to it. Now I see it as my life and my future, which is just such a beautiful feeling to have,' he said.

'I tried to juggle everything for so long. I think I did a really good job of it for so long.

'But I always knew in my heart of hearts, it had an expiry date and I'm now at a stage where I need to put myself in a position where I can get my life back.'

He added he was looking forward to having some spare time to focus on his personal life, now that he no longer had to juggle two jobs.

'I want to get my life back. I want to do some normal things. I want to share some incredible moments with my family, friends, and one day, I want to be a dad, I want to meet someone. At the moment, I can't do that,' he said.

In September, Clint announced his resignation from Nine in a statement, admitting he had been dealing with a significant workload that he hoped to reduce.

He began his media career in the news library at Melbourne's GTV9 in the early 2000s and steadily rose through the ranks.

Several years later, the veteran journalist was appointed Weekend Sport Presenter for 9News Melbourne.
