Chris Evans' new R-rated thriller is climbing Netflix's charts, with the box office bomb finding new life on streaming. 2026 is going to be a big year for Evans. After years of claiming his time as Captain America was over, the actor was recently confirmed to play a central role in Avengers: Doomsday's story by the movie's first teaser and its directors, the Russo Brothers.
While Evans will only return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America in December, 2026 has already started on the right foot for the actor. Evans starred in multiple movies in 2025. One of those was Materialists, a rom-com co-starring Pedro Pascal and Dakota Johnson, which was a hit. However, it is Evans' box office bomb that has now become a Netflix sensation.
According to FlixPatrol, Chris Evans' Honey Don't is now the 10th most-watched movie on Netflix in the United States. The R-rated mystery thriller was released on the streaming service on February 3, making it an instant hit on the streamer. Honey Don't is joined on Netflix's nationwide top ten by movies like Copshop, Independence Day, Night at the Museum, The Rip, and more.
Evans' neo-noir movie's streaming resurgence is just what Honey Don't needed after the film's poor box office run. Despite uniting a cast that included the Marvel star, Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, Charlie Day, Billy Eichner, and being directed by Ethan Coen, Honey Don't ended its worldwide box office run with just $7.5 million. The movie was a box office bomb.
With a reported budget of around $20 million, the R-rated thriller needed to finish within the $40 million to $50 million range just to break even. As such, despite its talented ensemble, Honey Don't was a disappointment at the box office, losing millions. One of the factors that might have played a role in that outcome was the movie's negative reviews.

Looking for movies to watch on Netflix? The best movies on Netflix this weekend are a thriller, a Sci-Fi adventure, and a poignant drama.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Honey Don't stands at a measly 45% critics' score. The film fared even worse with moviegoers, landing at a 39% audience score. In ScreenRant's Honey Don't review, Todd Gilchrist gave the movie a 6 out of 10 rating, saying, "The violence leans more cruelly towards Coen films like The Ladykillers, where there's almost a mocking delight in watching characters get murdered."
Honey Don't's newfound streaming success gives the R-rated movie the run it never had in theaters. With a stacked cast of fan-favorite actors, the film should continue to climb Netflix's charts, moving up after entering the list at 10th with just one day on the streaming service. It remains to be seen just how far Honey Don't could climb on Netflix.
