'Roan of Arc' swaps the subway for the Battle Bus

To paraphrase the great Ayo Edebiri: "I'm seated. Epic Games employees are scared and asking me to leave the Fortnite servers because 'I don't even have enough currency to buy the Chappell Roan skins yet,' but I'm simply too seated."

To most people, Fortnite is a battle royale game that pits players against each other until only one remains. For others, it's a social experiment that lets you and your friends give your favorite celebrities a gun, watch them place an L on their forehead, and dance around like an over-caffeinated jester. It’s the best way to trigger viral videos, as proven by the gangs of Sabrina Carpenter that took over my TikTok feed when the “Espresso” star’s skin was added to the game last year as a Fortnite Festival Icon.

This time around, the hotly anticipated music artist coming to Epic’s Fortnite Festival (and, of course, Battle Royale modes) is the Grammy award-winning pop artist Chappell Roan, who is serving as Fortnite Festival's next Icon (following in the footsteps of Carpenter, Bruno Mars, Gorillaz, Metallica, Billie Eilish, and Lisa, among other artists).

The Chappell Roan "Heartcore" pass will give players the opportunity to snag a Pink Pony Club Jam Track, a pink-outfitted Chappell skin (with a red edit style), and instruments to match both skins with the coolest names: Midwest Princess Keytar, Subway Serenader Microphone, and Drumset Supernova.

There will also be Chappell Roan items available in the store, including a third skin. Roan of Arc pays tribute to the singer's performance of "Good Luck, Babe" at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. Additionally, there will be an emote set to "Femininomenon" and a Pink Pony sidekick (complete with cowboy hat), which should be an instant favorite.

Roan's arrival in the game was a hot topic on X in previous weeks, thanks to leakers like HypeX. In a post, HypeX shared images of a confetti-like pony and a pink, star-shaped club. Granted, this might seem like a reach for the uninitiated, but a quick glance from this eagle-eyed Chappell Roan fan confirmed it: It shares the exact same look with the pony Roan performed with during the 2025 Grammys.

Roan’s outfit during her performance has also made an appearance. It’s not hard to see why: That cowboy hat and glittery pink breastplate piece is just one of her many iconic looks. Our personal favorite, though? Her stunning knight outfit from the VMAs.

Alongside Roan’s phenomenal looks come brand-new dance emotes and her iconic songs, “Good Luck, Babe!” and “Pink Pony Club.”

With how popular pop stars' skins are on Fortnite, we’re certain that it’ll only be a matter of time before gangs of Chappell Roans will be roving around Sunset Falls, pacifying enemies with the power of pink pony clubs and a level of pop brutality that’s far from casual.
