As much as we all enjoy a well-earned rest with our families at Christmas, the reality that many of our favorite network shows head on a winter hiatus is enough to make you rue the festive spirit. Following Season 2, Episode 10, "Never Been CRISPR'd," CBS's Watson, the Morris Chestnut-led medical mystery procedural, officially went on a hiatus for almost three months. Frankly, these first two months of 2026 haven't been the same without a weekly dose of problem-solving at the Holmes Clinic of Diagnostic Medicine.

Thankfully, Watson is about to return, with the next episode, "The Tunnel Under the Elms," airing this Sunday at 10 PM ET, as it returns to its old timeslot; it will also be available to stream on Paramount+. The episode's synopsis reads, "Watson and the fellows race against the clock to save a man and his pregnant wife from a terrifying sinkhole; Ingrid's future with her therapy group becomes unclear." Time is of the essence as it always is in the next episode of Watson, with the former London-based consulting detective turned medical head facing one of his toughest challenges yet.

Also in this episode, Ingrid's (Eve Harlow) continued participation in group therapy is in jeopardy, as the most underrated storyline this season continues its battle with tough, nuanced themes. As part of Collider's Exclusive Spring Preview event, we have teamed up with CBS to bring you the exclusive sneak peek below, throwing you into the thick of the action as the eye-popping case-of-the-week is revealed. For a gripping thrill ride and a perfect sprinkling of medical melodrama, don't miss out on this Sunday's midseason premiere of Watson Season 2.

A 'Watson' Star Just Joined a Beloved British Series

Discussing Watson's movie to Sundays for the rest of the year, showrunner Craig Sweeny told Collider:

"We wanted to kick off Watson Season 2’s move to Sundays with an episode that puts Watson and the Fellows in a really high-octane situation, but still has an interesting medical mystery baked right into the center of it. The more research we did on the frightening power of sinkholes, the more it started to feel like the natural spine of a mid-season premiere. So, while Watson is fighting to help this couple medically, he is also trying to help them fight to save their marriage at the same time.

On top of that, this episode has a really nice backstory reveal for Shinwell that is going to pay off in a big way later in the season. It is an emotional moment for Shinwell, and one we have been looking forward to showing the audience all season."

Although Watson first hinged on the twist that Sherlock Holmes is dead, Season 2 shook things up by revealing in the aptly titled second episode, "Back from the Dead," that the famed crime-solver was still alive, and portrayed by Hamish Macbeth and Trainspotting star Robert Carlyle. It has now been revealed this week that Carlyle is set to join another gripping series, all the way from across the pond, as he becomes the guest star of the long-awaited Line of Duty Season 7, which is set to return in 2027.

Watson Season 2, Episode 10, "Never Been CRISPR'd," airs this Sunday at 10 PM ET on CBS. For more of the latest exclusives from our Spring Preview Event, make sure to stay tuned to Collider.
