When we last left off with the cast of characters in CBS’ new breakaway series, Sheriff Country, the tension dial was cranked up to an 11. It’s now been two months since we left off with Morena Baccarin’s Sheriff Mickey Fox, and our burning questions will finally receive some well-deserved answers when we’re finally relieved from the midseason cliffhanger on Friday, February 27. Serving as the second part of a two-episode arc, the installment, titled “Crucible, Part 2,” will pick up following the pulse-pounding events of the previous episode, which saw Mickey and the rest of her team under attack on their home turf. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we’re thrilled to unveil an exclusive first look at the action that begins to catch audiences up with Mickey, Boone (Matt Lauria), and Travis (Christopher Gorham).

The Edgewater County police department is in an abundant amount of trouble at the top of today’s sneak peek as a sweaty and disheveled Boone attempts to reach out to any other officers in the area. Realizing that their comms have been jammed by the enemy, Boone sends out a desperate message to Mickey (Baccarin) to warn her that this blackout is absolutely not an accident but instead a planned attack. In the midst of handling Boone’s panic and instructing him on his next moves, Mickey is tending to a bloody and bruised Travis (Gorham), who has taken a bullet to the chest during the initial scrimmage. Our nail-biter first look leaves off on yet another cliffhanger as Boone — with his gun drawn — searches the dark halls of the department while en route to the holding cells.

What’s Next for ‘Sheriff Country’?

When it was announced that CBS would be pushing forward with a spin-off of its beloved series Fire Country, audiences were intrigued to learn more. While we’re still hoping for another offshoot that would put the focus on Jared Padalecki’s Camden Casey, Sheriff Country is the next best thing. Combining the familial ties that made Fire Country the massive hit that it has become with a new set of first responders thrown into increasingly difficult predicaments, the show took off like wildfire (no pun intended) during its first season. The good news is that going into the second half of the freshman batch of episodes, we know that the story will continue, as the title was given a Season 2 greenlight in December.

Check out our exclusive first look at Sheriff Country’s return above and stay tuned for more to come from Collider’s Exclusive Preview event.
