Carrie Bickmore has revealed she is suffering from pink eye after turning heads with her glamorous appearance at Derby Day.

The television host and radio star, 45, took to Instagram to share a rather unflattering selfie to show fans the less glamorous side of her weekend at Flemington Racecourse.

After spending Saturday looking every inch racing royalty, Carrie appeared to have traded champagne and her designer dress for an uncomfortable eye condition known as conjunctivitis.

In the candid close-up, the former Project host appeared to be make-up free apart from remnants of eye makeup, with one eye looking noticeably red and irritated.

Clearly seeing the funny side of her predicament, Carrie poked fun at the stark contrast between her glamorous race day photographs and her latest appearance.

'Just for balance after all the glamorous race pics….this is me with pink eye tonight ,' she captioned her Instagram Story.

The unfortunate revelation comes after Carrie joined a host of high-profile guests at Melbourne's Flemington Racecourse for Derby Day on Saturday.

The Gold Logie winner looked sensational in a bridal-inspired white silk gown by Australian label Van Der Kooij, featuring a fitted bodice and voluminous skirt.

She completed her elegant ensemble with an oversized white bow in her blonde locks, statement gold earrings and lace Christian Louboutin heels.

Carrie was in high spirits as she mingled with fellow celebrities in the exclusive Birdcage enclosure, even taking part in a champagne-popping celebration at the G.H. Mumm marquee.

But while she appeared picture-perfect trackside, her latest social media update proved even Australia's most glamorous celebrities aren't immune to an unfortunate beauty setback.

Carrie did not reveal what caused the eye condition or whether she had sought medical treatment.

Her candid health update comes during a particularly eventful period for the popular broadcaster, who recently announced that her long-running radio show with Tommy Little would finish at the end of the year.

The unfortunate revelation comes after Carrie joined a host of high-profile guests at Melbourne's Flemington Racecourse for Derby Day on Saturday.

The pair confirmed last month that their national Hit Network drive program, Carrie & Tommy, would be coming to an end after almost a decade on air.

An emotional Carrie fought back tears while breaking the news to listeners.

'I've loved every minute of doing the show. It's not every day you get to come and have a laugh and call it your job with your best mate and the funniest guy in the country, and that's what we've got to do for the last decade,' she said.

Carrie has since been linked to a potential move to rival broadcaster ARN, amid speculation she could take over the national drive slot being vacated by Will McMahon and Woody Whitelaw.

However, her next radio move has yet to be officially confirmed.
