Carrie Bickmore faces backlash after she asks a stranger to film her reunion at an airport and criticises him for not doing it properly: 'He's not directing a movie'

Carrie Bickmore has been slammed for criticising a man's filming abilities after asking him to take a video for her at an airport.

The radio host, 45, uploaded the clip to Instagram on Wednesday, in which she could be seen running up to a friend and hugging her during a 'surprise reunion'. 

However, the media personality later criticised the stranger she asked to film her and her friends, saying he didn't capture the moment well enough. 

'When you ask a stranger at the airport to film a surprise reunion and he stands 5kms away. And has a little dig about us at the end,' Carrie captioned the video. 

The 'little dig' she referenced came at the end of the clip when the man filming Carrie's reunion could be heard saying to a bystander: 'I got recruited.' 

'That's good. Something special?' the bystander asked, to which the man filming joked, 'It's women,' and started laughing. 

Some of Carrie's followers flocked to the comments to slam the radio host for criticising the man who 'did her a kindness' by filming.  

'Or "thank you" for doing this would work too,' one person wrote.

'Why blame the man? The women clearly ran from him?' another said, referencing Carrie running away from the camera towards her friend to hug her.

'To be fair he's not directing a movie... you asked to film... he filmed,' a third noted.

'When you ask a stranger to do you a kindness and then publicly shame him for not doing it to your liking,' commented another.

However, there were other fans of the radio star who slammed the man for his filming abilities and the comment he made at the end of the video. 

'Ask a woman to film next time. She will understand the assignment haha,' one person joked.

'Your first mistake was handing your phone to a man,' said another.

'Did he say "it's women"? I didn't realise we have a monopoly on excitement but I'll take it!' one user wrote.

Someone else said: 'Mate. You got "recruited" to film some of the best damn women EVER!'

Last month, Carrie copped backlash from a listener when she got into a fiery debate with someone who called into the Carrie & Tommy show to complain about the radio stars discussing periods while the caller's children were in the car. 

The tense exchange unfolded after the hosts began speaking about whether children should be taught about menstruation from a young age.

Carrie said she was surprised some listeners believed periods were not something parents should discuss with their kids.

'People were calling up to say it's good that we're talking about periods, but someone else has called up and said not everyone discusses this with their kids,' she said.

'As if it's not actually something we should be discussing. I find that really interesting. I can't see why you wouldn't.'

The caller argued that not every parent wanted the topic raised while their children were listening in the car, prompting a spirited back-and-forth between Carrie, Tommy and listeners.
