Carey Mulligan cosied up to her musician husband Marcus Mumford at their star-studded Wassail benefit at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Raising money for Children in Conflict, which is dedicated to providing support for children living in warzones, the couple raised an incredible $7.65million as they hosted their annual event.

The actress, 41, looked stunning in a floor length green dress which was adorned with flowers.

Meanwhile Marcus kept it smart in a black blazer jacket and open-collared white shirt.

The couple have previously hosted their charity event before in New York and London, but this was their first time taking it to LA.

Comedian Jack Whitehall was the emcee for the evening, while Marcus performed with his band Mumford & Sons and Brandi Carlile, Sierra Ferrell and Jensen McRae also took to the stage.

Carey and Marcus's appearance together comes after the singer detailed how he overhauled his lifestyle by losing five stone by going sober, surfing and taking a gym rig on tour.

Back in July Marcus wowed fans following his incredible glow-up which saw him lose 30kg, which is almost five stone.

Marcus has spoken about his decision to adopt a healthier lifestyle saying he wanted to have energy on stage and admitting he didn't like how he looked in the mirror.

Now weighing a comfortable 80kg, 12.5 stone, Marcus said he had decided to approach touring more like an 'athletics programme, rather than as a party'.

He told Men's Health in February: 'I did a lot of running through Covid. The shows require a good level of cardio so the running helps, and then I had a friend who introduced me to strength stuff. It’s been really fun.

'We take a little gym rig on the road with us, which has been really helpful for my head. Using that is just a part of my daily routine, and a bunch of other people on the tour also love it, so we have little sessions together. We also play a lot of 8-a-side football.'

He continued: 'I looked in the mirror one day and was like, "I'm not in control".  I spoke with a doctor friend of mine. He provided me with some clear ways that I could get back that control and not feel like a victim in my own body.'

Marcus said he also stopped drinking seven or eight years ago, and his surfing has much improved since he worked on his general health.

The singer added that he has completed a couple of marathons but it affected his knees too much so he tends to stick to more gym-based workouts now.

Marcus recently gave a rare insight into his marriage to Carey with an interview with The Guardian in February.

The couple got married in 2012 and have three children.

When asked about the person he admires the most, he said: 'Sickeningly, it’s probably my wife, because she’s a legend.'

They famously met at a summer camp when he was 10 and she was 12, and they went on to become pen pals.

They lost touch for about 10 years before reconnecting – he proposed to her five months after getting together, in August 2011 while on holiday in Somerset.
