Apple TV has released a first look at its upcoming new limited series, Cape Fear, with a teaser trailer (above) and first-look photos (below). The 10-episode project will premiere on Friday, June 5, with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through July 31.

The Cape Fear series adaptation—from writer and executive producer Nick Antosca— is billed as a tense, Hitchcockian psychological thriller and an examination of America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century.

In it, a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison — and he wants vengeance.

And Max is looking pretty diabolical in the teaser, arriving as Anna and Tom are wondering if they deserve everything they have. Perhaps now, the couple will question everything while also trying to protect their children from the evil that lurks.

“I had a good life once, too,” Max says in the video as he haunts the pair. In a later moment, Anna wonders out loud to her husband, “Is there any way Max could know about what we did?”

Secrets are not safe anywhere.

The ensemble cast also includes CCH Pounder, Anna Baryshnikov, Jamie Hector, Lily Collias, Joe Anders and Malia Pyles.

Hailing from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television, Cape Fear is based on both the novel “The Executioners,” which inspired Gregory Peck’s Universal Pictures feature (1962) of the same name, as well as the 1991 remake directed by Scorsese.

The series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, who produced the 1991 film, alongside Scorsese. Creator Nick Antosca showruns and produces alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, and Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey produce alongside Spielberg for Amblin Television. Adams and Bardem executive produce. Morten Tyldum directed the pilot and served as executive producer. The series is developed and produced through Antosca’s overall deal at UCP.
