As sure as the sun rises in the morning, a new year sees the release of a new Call of Duty. And so it is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has officially been announced over at Activision. This latest entry sees Infinty Ward return to the series with a brand-new single-player campaign, plenty of multiplayer modes, and the return of DMZ.
ScreenRant's Rob Keyes recently visited Infinity Ward to learn all about Modern Warfare 4, and he came away super impressed by what he played.
"Infinity Ward repeatedly circled back to ideas like readability, realism, responsiveness, and refining the core feel of Call of Duty itself," Rob writes in ScreenRant's hands-on preview. "In many ways, the presentation and hands-on experience reminded me of when Modern Warfare (2019) was first shown at a preview event. That game felt like a major leap forward for the franchise technologically and stylistically, backed by meaningful gameplay and presentation improvements that immediately stood out from prior entries."
Jack O'Hara, Co-Studio Head at Infinity Ward also told ScreenRant a little bit about the team's new approach:
“We want our characters to feel authentic and gritty, not superhero caricature. We don't want them to feel like superhumans in any way, and we're always chasing state of the art visuals and polishing beyond compare. We are always chasing for that because we believe in leaving ourselves the time to execute to make sure we're as bug free as possible when we come out and that we really get the time to refine our vision before it goes live.”
If Modern Warfare 4 can recapture the magic of those original Modern Warfare campaigns and multiplayer maps, we could definitely be onto something very special here. Undoubtedly, Activision will have plenty more to show us between now and October 23, so watch this space. Call of Duty may well be back.
