If you're a Netflix user, you have less than a month to catch up on Brooklyn Nine-Nine before 45 episodes are booted from the platform. This police procedural sitcom series originally premiered on Fox in 2013 before moving to NBC for its last few seasons. Brooklyn Nine-Nine wrapped up in 2021 after eight seasons and 153 episodes, and it has remained a popular comfort binge on Netflix for years since.
Created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows several quirky NYPD detectives as they comically go about solving crimes under the guidance of the very serious Captain Raymon Holt (Andre Braugher). The ensemble cast includes Andy Samberg, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Chelsea Peretti, Dirk Blocker, and Joel McKinnon Miller, all of whom ensure this TV show is nothing if not hilarious.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an easily defined masterpiece. Not only has it had a significant cultural impact that is sure to last for decades, but it also boasts some of the best critical reception possible. The series has an overall score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, with four of its total eight seasons boasting 100% critical approval. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is clearly a show you don't want to miss, but Netflix isn't making it easy.
Netflix Is Removing Several Seasons Of Brooklyn Nine-Nine In February 2026
The good news is that Netflix is adding two additional seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine that it didn't initially feature. The bad news is that it is exchanging these installments for two that it already had. To explain, Netflix initially added the first four seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine in February 2024, even though NBC had completed all eight installments. A year later, in 2025, seasons 5 and 6 were added. However, Netflix dropped seasons 1 and 2 from its library.
This means that as of the start of February 2026, Netflix has Brooklyn Nine-Nine seasons 3 through 6 available to stream. However, on February 26, 2026, when the last two seasons of this procedural sitcom are added to the platform, seasons 3 and 4 will be booted. So, if you have been casually watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Netflix, your time is running out to catch up to at least season 5.
Why Netflix Can Only Have Some Seasons Of Brooklyn Nine-Nine At A Time
Netflix's unique streaming strategy for Brooklyn Nine-Nine comes down to a rather clever deal with NBC. This network's own in-house streamer is Peacock, but there's no denying that this platform doesn't have nearly as many subscribers as Netflix. So, NBC has begun lending out portions of its own shows to achieve greater audience exposure.
The idea here is that Netflix subscribers will get hooked on a show like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but run out of episodes. This will then inspire them to add Peacock to their subscription list so they can finish binge-watching the show they fell in love with. Netflix benefits in the end, as evidenced by Brooklyn Nine-Nine's high viewership on the platform, while Peacock successfully funnels some viewers to itself.
The good news about this is that, even as Netflix will trade in earlier seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine for newer ones, the show in its entirety remains streamable on Peacock. However, if you're determined to stay a one-subscription household, you'd better get caught up before it's too late.
