The ton is abuzz with the arrival of the latest season of Bridgerton, as the first four episodes put up 39.7M views over the weekend following its debut on January 29.
That’s slightly down from the arrival of Season 3, which drew 45.1M views in the same time frame across the first four episodes, but it’s still a very strong showing from the Shonda Rhimes series. It was by far the most-watched title on Netflix from January 26 to February 1.
The comparisons won’t be this neat for very long, since Part 2 will complicate things when it releases on February 26. But, for now, it looks like Bridgerton Season 4 has a healthy chance of joining its predecessors on the Most Popular list.
Speaking of Season 3, that was also on the Top 10 weekly rankings for English series, as was Season 1.
His & Hers is still attracting a decent amount of attention, taking second place with 11M views. The audience is slowly declining, which is to be expected after an initial period of interest, but even after a month on Netflix it’s still putting up a stronger performance than most other titles on the service at the moment.
Take the third place entrant, Finding Her Edge, as a case in point. That put up 6.7M views in its first full week on the streamer after landing on Netflix on January 22. That is up slightly from its premiere week, but still it’s only about 60% of the His & Hers audience. That was still good enough for Netflix to renew it for Season 2 on Tuesday.
People are still interested in Alex Honnold’s latest free solo climb, perhaps now even more so since we know he lived to tell the tale. The Skyscraper Live special that saw him fulfill a lifelong dream and make history by scaling Taipei 101 drew another 5.3M views. That’s after 6.2M views in its premiere weekend.
Fifth place went to Mike Epps’ latest comedy special Delusional with 3.8M views.
On the film side, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s The Rip managed 14.6M views, holding onto first place on the English films weekly list. No. 2 was Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart with 9.6M views. And, you guessed it, Kpop Demon Hunters marked its 33rd week on the Top 10 at No. 3 with another 6.8M views.
