Based on the stage play by English playwright David Haig, who also penned the script for the upcoming project, Pressure looks back on those tense three days before Operation Neptune. Meant to liberate Western Europe from Nazi occupation, the invasion, better known now as D-Day, was not decided on a whim. The film follows Fraser, then-commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces and future U.S. President, and Royal Air Force captain Scott as they mull over what will ultimately be a world-changing decision: launch the largest and most dangerous seaborne invasion in military history, or hold off and risk losing to the Germans altogether? The final say will ultimately be Eisenhower's, and while we know how history plays out, it's those moments leading up to the invasion that make this WWII film particularly intriguing.
Directed by Hotel Mumbai's Anthony Maras, Pressure's star-studded cast includes Kerry Condon, who plays Eisenhower's aide, Kay Summersby, Damian Lewis, who will play British Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery, Henry Ashton, who takes on the role of John Eisenhower, the general's son, who also served in the war alongside his father, Con O'Neill, who stars as Trafford Leigh-Mallory, the air commander of the Normandy invasion, and Chris Messina, who plays Stagg's rival meteorologist, Irving Krick. Also supporting are Daniel Quinn-Toyes, Toby Williams, and Max Croes.
Pressure hits theaters May 29.
