The Stormlight Archive is a fantasy novel series set in the world of Roshar. It currently spans five books, with Wind and Truth serving as the conclusion to the series' first major story arc. The series follows several characters who cross paths with each other as they face a brutal war and discover ancient powers.

Sanderson’s highly anticipated Stormlight Archive TV adaptation is officially underway. Now, after an interview with Waterstone, fans have a better idea of what the first season will look like. While discussing his many upcoming on-screen projects, the popular fantasy author confirmed that Stormlight season 1 is going to have ten episodes.

Stormlight, I'll write a huge chunk of it. Um which is a 10 episode 10 episode television show. those like I am the primary writer on both of those.

Sanderson also revealed that he will have a very hands-on role in bringing the story to the screen. Rather than just offering input on creative decisions, he will be the primary writer for the Stormlight Archive TV show. That level of involvement is uncommon for book adaptations and shows how much faith Apple has in the author.

The episode count makes sense for the upcoming show as The Stormlight Archive novels are all incredibly long. Many even consider it one of the most expansive fantasy series ever written. Since debuting with The Way of Kings in 2010, it now has five novels, and Sanderson is planning on adding at least five more books to the franchise.

The update arrives during an exciting period for Sanderson's growing career. Following Apple's acquisition of the screen rights to his Cosmere universe, development is moving forward on multiple projects. Aside from Stormlight, the studio is also developing a film adaptation of Mistborn. Sanderson's expanded authority, combined with the confirmation of a 10-episode first season, gives readers hope that the upcoming TV series will capture the massive scale that has made the novels stand out from the rest.

Apple TV's other Sanderson project is based on the Mistborn trilogy. The story centers on Vin, who is a thief. Then, one day she discovers that she has magical abilities. She then joins a team of misfits as they work together to fight the tyrant, Lord Ruler. Additionally, in this world, magic is fueled by consuming specific metals.

There are no official release dates for Apple TV's Stormlight and Mistborn adaptations at the time of this article's publication. However, the latter is speculated to debut between late 2028 and early 2029.
