A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation."

An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account.

Even though it breaks the first rule of Fight Club, we have to talk about Fight Club. Specifically, we have to talk about its new 4K restoration, which is coming to your local theater, and then your home, later this year. A box office disappointment upon its release, David Fincher's visionary movie became a Generation X cult classic, culminating in its triumphant return to the big screen.

New Regency has meticulously restored the film in 4K Ultra HD, and you'll be able to see it soon on the big and small screens. It's coming back to theaters for one night only on April 22. That will be followed up by a 4K Ultra HD Steelbook, which will be available on May 15; the 4K restoration will also be available to rent or own on all major digital platforms. New Regency and Insight Editions are also releasing a Fight Club 25th Anniversary art book, which will feature never-before-seen visuals, exclusive interviews with cast and crew, and a look behind the scenes of the making of the film.

What Is 'Fight Club' About?

An adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's bestselling 1996 novel, Fight Club stars Edward Norton as a nameless office drone adrift in the corporate world of the 1990s. Unable to sleep, he starts habituating support groups for problems he doesn't have. There, he meets a fellow "tourist," Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter), who he develops an intense love/hate relationship with. Soon after, he meets the mysterious Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), an anarchist who makes soap out of human fat and edits pornographic frames into family films. They end up moving in together, and eventually co-found Fight Club, a secret society of men who address their frustrations with modern consumerist society by coming together and beating the tar out of each other. However, Fight Club soon grows beyond mere fisticuffs and into a proto-fascist social movement. As the narrator moves to stop Fight Club's adherents from spinning out of control, he discovers a mind-blowing secret of his own...

Budgeted at $65 million USD, Fight Club was not a hit with 20th Century Fox's executives, who had difficulty marketing the film; it ultimately grossed a disappointing $101 million. Likewise, reviews were polarized; some, like the New York Times' Janet Maslin, praised its artistry, while others found it ultimately shallow, like Roger Ebert, who called it "a thrill ride masquerading as philosophy." The film eventually found its audience on DVD, and became a cult hit.

Fight Club will return to theaters on April 22 in a new 4K Ultra HD restoration; it will be available on digital and on an Ultra HD Steelbook on May 15. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
