The upcoming Bluey movie is still two years away.

But that has not stopped fans putting their theories online about what viewers can expect to see when the film finally drops in 2027.

One dedicated Bluey fan has even predicted that the upcoming big screen version of the global TV hit will see the return of a much loved character.

Taking to the Adult Bluey Fan site on Facebook, a user has suggested that the movie, which is yet to be written, will likely feature Jean Luc.

This character was a dark blue French Canadian labrador who became pals with Bluey in the 'Camping' episode from season one.

And though the adorable pup could only speak French, the language barrier did not impact his friendship with Bluey.

'I will die if we don’t get a Jean Luc arc‚' one fan responded on the thread.

'Bluey and Jean Luc as older kids at the campground. I need itttt!!!' added another viewer.

The Bluey movie was announced last month by BBC Studios and the Walt Disney Company with original creator Joe Brumm set to write and direct.

No details about the film have emerged since Brumm is still getting to work on the screenplay.

Meanwhile, another theory shared on the same thread suggested that the movie will see the Heeler family explore Australia.

'Mega road trip, seeing more of Queensland and Australia, including a visit to Winton, Joe Brumm's birthplace. Of course with an adventure story thrown in,' one fan posted.

Said another: 'I think it's going to majorly love on Australia with more cameos of real places and events.'

Another person suggested a plot idea: 'I’m going to assume the movie will be about the Heeler family traveling beyond Brisbane and learning life lessons outside of their own home.'

The Australian-made cartoon first hit screens in 2018 and has gone on to gain huge popularity with both kids and parents alike, with the show bagging numerous awards along the way.

And the series has been riding high in the top ten shows streamed in the US for a massive 112 weeks.

The figures were compiled earlier this month by the Nielsen ratings, which tracks viewership in the US, according to the Comicbook website.

According to Nielsen's survey, Bluey has been in the top ten shows streaming in the US since October 2022.

Bluey is broadcast in more than 60 countries, with all three seasons of the Emmy-award-winning cartoon available on ABC iview in Australia, Disney+ in the U.S. and select episodes on BBC iPlayer in the U.K.

After the film hits the big screen, fans will also be able to stream the movie on Disney+, as well as ABC iview and ABC Kids in Australia.

Bluey's creator Joe Brumm expressed his excitement about the upcoming movie. He shared: 'I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on ‘The Sign’ in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that.

'I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together. I’m excited to continue to partner with Cecilia Persson, Tom Fussell and the team at BBC Studios, and Dana Walden, Alan Bergman and Disney to bring this new Bluey story to the big screen.'

The film will feature the voices of Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack as Bluey’s mum and dad, Chilli and Bandit Heeler, in addition to music created by composer Joff Bush.

The CG animated film will be produced by award-winning animation producer Amber Naismith, while Richard Jeffery will return to co-direct the film.
