Bloodwoven is a survival immersive sim set in a world built on top of the frozen corpse of a god

I do love me an odd little immersive sim I do. There's just something special about the flexibility in them, so my ears always perk up like a dog hearing the word walkies whenever a new one enters the scene. Today, it's Bloodwoven, the next game from the devs behind Blood West (guess they like blood a lot), with a logline that has immediately drawn me in: "survive and thrive in a world built upon the frozen corpse of a forgotten god." Chills!

The world gets more and more upsetting as the Steam page unfurls itself upon you (ta for the spot, PC Gamer). Apparently you and your people are born from pods, but lately these same pods are birthing "corrupted forms - abominations that are neither human nor animals." As a result, you're put into a position of needing to figure out how to survive these new conditions, on top of the old ones you already head to.

Bloodwoven also sits within the survival genre, with a specific need to care for yourself in harsh, wintery conditions. This seemingly extends to things like setting up fires to keep yourself warm, with a little chill meter at the bottom telling you how long you can manage in the blistering cold. Maintaining your inventory is important too, as you need to make sure you're equipped with food and drink so that you don't kick the proverbial bucket.

The teaser trailer suggests you'll be exploring some slightly alien, fleshy, dungeony looking areas too, it's all quite ominous. It also sounds like there'll be a day and night cycle, with all the eldritch monsters coming out in full force in the evening. But the change from morning to evening also seems to bring new areas to explore with it, an approach I'm curious about exploring further.

Bloodwoven doesn't have a release date just yet, but you can wishlist it on Steam while you wait.
