BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF clients added $22.38 million worth of Bitcoin, extending the fund’s pattern of steady, if uneven, demand.
Farside Investors data shows the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) recorded a net inflow of $22.4 million on October 9, 2026.
What happened at IBIT
A net inflow is simple arithmetic. It is the money investors put into the fund minus the money they pulled out.
BlackRock does not keep that Bitcoin in its own vault. Custody of IBIT’s holdings sits with Coinbase Prime, the institutional arm of the US exchange.
The October 9 inflow came during a choppy stretch for the fund. On October 7, IBIT saw a $207.7 million outflow, a far larger move in the opposite direction.
Earlier in October, the fund pulled in $195.6 million within the first week of the month.
Bitcoin’s price has recently hovered in a range between $78,700 and $85,000.
The biggest fund in the room
IBIT is BlackRock’s flagship US spot Bitcoin ETF. A spot ETF holds the actual asset rather than futures contracts, so every share is backed by real Bitcoin.
The fund is the largest US spot Bitcoin ETF by assets under management, and leads the category in cumulative flows. Total inflows since launch have exceeded $65 billion.
Broader US spot Bitcoin ETF flows were mixed in early October 2026. IBIT often led inflows on positive days, while the category as a whole saw periods of net outflows.
In July 2026, BlackRock cut the minimum threshold for in-kind Bitcoin-to-IBIT conversions from $25 million to $1 million. An in-kind conversion lets an investor hand over Bitcoin directly in exchange for ETF shares, instead of selling coins for cash first. The program has processed over $5 billion in such swaps.
