Best Half Sword graphics settings for max FPS and no lag

2 days ago 4

Half Sword is out on early access for PC users via Steam, and there’s a definite issue with optimization.

While the requirements aren’t anything exorbitant, several players are already reporting visual issues, lag spikes, and FPS drops. This guide will try to solve your problems irrespective of your system. Hopefully, the settings I have recommended will allow you to enjoy Half Sword until a few post-launch patches roll out.

Before I deep dive into the settings, here’s my setup: AMD Ryzen 5600G, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 12 GB.

While my requirements match the recommended settings, the current state of optimization makes it really hard to run Half Sword optimally.

  • Graphics: Low
  • Resolution: 1920×1080
  • Frame Rate: 60
  • Display Mode: Personal preference
  • DirectX: DX 11
  • Vsync: Disabled
  • DLSS: Ultra Performance
  • Reflex: Off
  • Texture: Low
  • Anti Aliasing: Low
  • Post Process: Low
  • Foliage: Low
  • Shadow: Low
  • Effects: Low

Here are some key explanations behind the settings I am using.

  • The current state of optimization makes it important to cap the FPS to 60. This is despite your PC generating more frames, as there will be lag spikes. You can go for a higher cap once the optimization issues are dealt with by the developers.
  • I would have preferred keeping Vsync turned off, and the current situation makes it almost mandatory.
  • It’s a shame that there’s no FSR, but you can take advantage of DLSS on your Nvidia card. If you opt for it, put the settings to Ultra Performance. This can be later changed to Balanced once the general performance improves.
