Kentaro Miura's Berserk is a dark fantasy staple, in or even beyond the manga and anime world by this point. Its influence is ubiquitous, felt in video games like the numerous titles by FromSoftware just as would-be anime heirs continue to try and capture Berserk's glory. As such, manga collectors take pride in assembling the finest form of the series, its original manga, especially in the West lately with Dark Horse's magnificent Deluxe Edition hardcovers. While Dark Horse recently confirmed via its X (formerly Twitter) account plans for a volume #15 for Berserk's Deluxe Edition, it comes with an understandable catch.
The only thing standing in the way of Berserk's next hardcover release is the launch of its regular volume #44. While this would be exciting news by itself in many manga circles, one should note that, as of September 12, 2025, only one chapter has released of the roughly seven to nine chapters typically included in each tome. With nine months between chapter #383 and the next new installment of Berserk on June 12, 2026, don't expect to get that next hardcover too soon, unless Studio Gaga has a shockingly high output over the next several months. The good news is, that may be exactly what's happening, courtesy of a recent tease by its home magazine, Young Animal.
Young Animal Is Teasing Three Consecutive Berserk Releases
While one should remain cautiously optimistic and check every new Young Animal's preview for the next release to confirm, the magazine's website, under its preview for the next issue releasing on June 12, 2026, makes a noteworthy tease. Under its specific mention of Berserk's return as further official confirmation of chapter #384 coming out, Young Animal talks about this being Part 1 of three consecutive issues for the anticipated series.
The first of three consecutive issues of the latest chapter that the whole world has been waiting for!
What will Guts see in the darkness after being sealed in the shrine...?
This means that fans will likely not need to wait much longer at all to see what comes of Guts' hibernation in the womb-like stupa within the shrine shown in Berserk chapter #383. As noted before, the nine-month wait time for this particular next chapter might be a bit on-the-nose, but with Guts being at his lowest of abyssal lows lately, a triumphant rebirth, or even a subdued one, may be just what the doctor ordered. It may be more reasonable for fans to demand they see proof via previews for each subsequent release, but for now until confirmed otherwise, Young Animal appears to promise a new Berserk chapter through mid-July.
This means Berserk chapter #384 is set for its already-confirmed June 12, 2026 release date. Additionally, chapter #385 would thus drop on June 26, and chapter #386 on July 10. As always, it's best not to get hopes up entirely, but this appears to be the shortest wait time one could possibly expect. It's only such an uncommon experience simply because Berserk's intricate visuals, and careful adherence to Miura's vision, are prioritized above all else.
Berserk Fans Will Need To Wait A While For Its Biggest New Print Release
It's important for readers to consider the significance of this announcement in and of itself. It's a signifier of Dark Horse's confidence in the manga continuing soon, and with little need for much more content overall to fill out its latest hardcover. Berserk's 15th Deluxe Edition volume will contain volumes #42-44, per the usual pattern of three collected original volumes per release, so the majority of its collected chapters are already primed for release, with Dark Horse additionally reminding fans that volume #43 is up for preorder. Volume #43 is set for an October 27, 2026 release date in English.
A New Berserk Anime Just Might Not Be Possible, And One Of The Industry's Biggest Recent Flops Proves It
Berserk is one of the best manga series to never receive a great adaptation, and one recent flop shows why a new anime might not be possible.
Meanwhile, new chapters of Berserk have historically often required time and patience from readers. New chapters are only released one at a time on the second and fourth Friday of every month in Young Animal. Previews also typically leak on the Tuesday preceding each release indicating whether Berserk will feature. Wait times always range from weeks to, sadly too often, months at a time. But this anxiety might be quelled by Young Animal's website in its recent teaser. Since Miura's tragic passing in 2021, Berserk was in a precarious place, but it's proven to be in the best of hands as the team he left behind is eager to show it to the world.
