There were rumors that Gary could be edited out after sexual misconduct allegations, but he appears to be starring in a main role on the hit Bravo series. Allegedly, Gary engaged in sexual misconduct when he was escorted back to his room after filming confessionals by former Below Deck Sailing Yacht staff member Samantha Suarez. The network effectively issued Gary a slap on the wrist, uninviting him to BravoCon in 2023. However, there could be other trouble onboard in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 besides Gary's offscreen antics.
Chef Cloyce Left The Galley Without Informing Captain Glenn
He Chose To Hang Out With The Guests
Shockingly, Chef Cloyce chose to hang out with the guests rather than prepare lunch in the most recent charter. He assured Daisy that preparing chicken and salmon for the salads would only take 15 minutes, and Gary drove him out on the tender to enjoy some fun in the sun with the guests. Captain Glenn was horrified by the situation, calling Chef Cloyce back when he realized the crew member wasn't back on the boat. Not only did Chef Cloyce choose to eschew his duties by enjoying his time in the afternoon, but he also left his galley a mess.

The Bravo star definitely didn't make a good impression on the Captain or Chief Stew Daisy after the event. In fact, Chef Cloyce's decision could ruin his standing on the boat and the show at large. The incident left both the crew and Captain Glenn exasperated, as Cloyce was nowhere to be found just before the scheduled lunch service. As Daisy pointed out, the chef's performance typically determines the tip.
Chef Cloyce, who saw this as an opportunity to enjoy a break in the Spanish sunshine, assured the crew he could pull off a “light lunch” with minimal prep. However, this wasn't true, and the guests were left waiting for the chicken and salmon to be ready. Even Chef Cloyce himself acknowledged that he messed up his timing.
Chef Cloyce’s repeated mishaps might threaten his position on the yacht if he continues to prioritize guest interactions over his duties in the kitchen. Hopefully, he learned his lesson, but the chef, who is low on self-awareness, might continue to think he knows best. However, Daisy and Captain Glenn definitely have their eyes on him.
Chef Cloyce Talks Back To Those Above His Rank
He Doesn't Respect Daisy
There are more signs that Chef Cloyce will cause serious trouble on Below Deck Sailing Yacht due to him challenging, and sometimes disregarding the authority, of Daisy. However, he also pushes back against other crew members. Chef Cloyce’s approach to his role as chef has led to repeated clashes with Daisy over various service issues.
Daisy finds Chef Cloyce frustrating, but the young chef wants to flirt with the seasoned stew.
Chef Cloyce was dismissive when Daisy expected the table to be cleared by her standards and didn't like the way she communicated meal service. This resulted in a 17-minute delay in dessert. The crisis was averted because of the guests' satisfaction with the bread pudding, but the situation could've been bad. He also got angry when Daisy asked steaks to be cooked to order because of differing guest preferences. Chef Cloyce won't accept any changes to service unless initiated by him.
Daisy probably isn't ready for another boatmance after the explosive love triangle in season 4.
Chef Cloyce's attitude risks making Daisy look unprofessional to guests, especially when meal service is delayed because of his antics or lack of communication. Additionally, Chef Cloyce’s young age and over-confidence in his approach often come off as flirtatious and somewhat playful toward Daisy. He tries to use his charm to lighten the mood, even when they’re at odds, though it hasn’t seemed to diffuse their conflicts much. Chief Stew Daisy has been unimpressed with his habit of doing things his way. However, he openly told Gary that he was interested in Daisy. The feeling doesn't seem to be mutual.
Cloyce Is A Reality TV Veteran
He Could Be A Producer Plant
Below Deck Sailing Yacht isn't the first time Chef Cloyce appeared on reality TV, so he could be a producer plant. Before joining Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Chef Cloyce appeared on several reality TV cooking shows. His reality debut came at age 14 in Man vs. Child: Chef Showdown, where young chefs competed against adult pros. Later, he competed on Cook Your Way to Culinary School, a Rachael Ray special, where contestants had to prepare dishes within a budget and time limit for a scholarship. Although Cloyce didn't win the top prize, he received a scholarship that helped further his cooking education.

Chef Cloyce also appeared on Battle of the Brothers on the Food Network, mentored by celebrity chefs Bryan and Michael Voltaggio. He competed with other chefs for a chance to contribute to the brothers’ restaurant menu. These accolades probably helped him get noticed by Bravo, but it might be hard to take him seriously. As a reality TV alum, Chef Cloyce could be on the show specifically to cause trouble.
Will Chef Cloyce Get Fired This Season?
He's Already On Thin Ice
Chef Cloyce could get fired on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 due to his unprofessional behavior and clashes with crew members, but the jury's out on his fate this season. Chef Cloyce's tension with Daisy has escalated, especially when he tried to place the blame on her for service delays, which really put him on the chief stew's bad side. Daisy felt he was undermining her role, and this disagreement strained their relationship. He also tried to take over Diana Cruz's duties when hanging out with the guests, pouring wine for them.
Additionally, Chef Cloyce’s priorities seem skewed, as he prefers to hang out with guests rather than prepare their food. Captain Glenn, known for his patience, was visibly upset by this, and he won't be afraid to fire Chef Cloyce if he messes up again. While Chef Cloyce is safe for now, his place in the Below Deck Sailing Yacht cast is certainly on thin ice.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 airs on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.
