BBC Look North presenter Peter Levy struggled to keep a straight face after he made a very cheeky joke about his colleague live on air during Wednesday's programme.

The veteran host, 71, couldn't stop laughing at his own remark when he wrapped up a report featuring a Dacia Sandero.

He quipped: 'I love the car names. Phillip Norton, who is always looking for an escort.'

Peter left viewers in stitches online as they reacted to his 'cheeky one liners' after he struggled to compose himself.

Fans wrote on social media: 'The man’s a comedic genius,' 'One of the perks of now living in Grimsby is watching Peter and his cheeky one liners,'

'You know he’s got the producer in his ear,' 'HR will be calling him in the morning'.

Peter is renowned for his playful humour on air and has made viewers laugh on a number of occasions.

BBC Look North presenter Peter Levy, 71, struggled to keep a straight face after he made a very cheeky joke about his colleague live on air during Wednesday's programme

Back in 2024, the presenter struggled to contain his laughter after accidentally making a racy innuendo while discussing parking lines.

Becki Bowden reported on the issue after Yorkshire Council admitted their parking lines in Goole were painted too narrow for the average car.

She said: 'The lines are likely to be repainted on Wednesday, so until then the message is, don't worry if your parking is looking a little dodgy.'

As the programme returned to the studio, Peter remarked: 'Yes, so many people in Goole looking forward to to those extra inches on Wednesday.'

Realising his mistake, he struggled to contain himself before bursting out into laughter.

On another occasion, Peter was left blushing and 'lost for words' after reading out a risqué email from a fan live on air.

He was chatting to weatherman Paul Hudson after a forecast, who made a quip about Peter's outfit choice of a pale suit.

Paul joked that a viewer had emailed in to the show saying: 'Can you ask Peter if he's umpiring a cricket match straight after Look North?'

He laughed and added, 'There we are, I could go on Peter, have you got anything to say?' which saw the other presenter reply, 'Yeah, you can go on, that's the problem! I have nothing to say, no, I could see it a mile off, just get it out of your system.'

Peter then fired back with an actual viewer email – but had to stop himself mid-sentence as the content went on to be saucier than he realised.

Pulling out a cue card, Peter started: 'Ann Yates says ''I would love to have Paul face upwards''', but was forced to abandon the email upon realising his mistake.

When he realised how suggestive the email was, he went bright red, exclaiming, 'Hang on, hang on' – and bursting into laughter.

Weatherman Paul, the subject of the bawdy viewer submission, said he was simply 'lost for words' – but cheekily told his colleague to keep reading.

Peter could not bring himself to, admitting: 'No, I've just read the next line, I can't do it.'

They promised viewer Ann a Leave It To Levy coaster for her hilarious efforts as they were left in stitches.
