Later that evening, Emma shared another update as she filmed a clip speaking to fans and thanking the midwives at Manchester Birth Centre.

She said: 'So I just thought I should put it on record before my brain gets addled. I'm just so grateful to all the midwives who made this all possible with the way it went.

'And for listening to me and helping me make the right decisions. It's so unpredictable, birth. And there's decisions you've got to make for yourself which are quite scary.

'But I feel very lucky to have had some amazing midwives who were amazing help. Just complete strangers who suddenly become your angels. What an amazing job they do.'

'We're so grateful aren't we,' she continued, before looking down at Rocky Beau and adding: 'Daddy's going to be back soon. I think I hear someone coming.'

She then turned the camera to show her husband entering with a huge bouquet of flowers as she said: 'Look at this. Oh wow. I am a lucky girl.'

Emma addressed BBC Breakfast viewers on February 1 as she bid a temporary farewell from the show to head on maternity leave.

Speaking at the end of the episode, she said: 'Right well, that's nearly it for us today. And my last show before mat leave! Bye!'
