Barry Manilow Postpones Vegas Residency After Surgery For Lung Cancer: “What The Doctor Ordered”

After rescheduling some tour dates last month amid his stage-one lung cancer diagnosis, Barry Manilow is postponing his Las Vegas residency.

The Grammy winner noted that although he’s “doing great and recovering very well” after undergoing surgery for the cancerous spot on his left lung, his doctor recommended that he take more time to heal, which means he’s pushing back his Feb. 12-21 residency at Westgate Las Vegas.

“I want to share an update with you all,” he prefaced in a statement on social media. “I’m doing great and recovering very well after my surgery. I’ve been getting exercise and spending some time in the studio, which has been fantastic.

“With my doctor’s guidance and recommendation, however, we have decided to postpone my residency dates at Westgate Las Vegas from February 12-21 so I can stay focused on healing and getting ready for the tour that’s kicking off at the end of February.”

Manilow added, “Having a few extra weeks to rest and prepare is what the doctor ordered!”

In December, the ‘Copacabana’ artist revealed that after several weeks with bronchitis, “my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK,” in which they “discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed.”

Ending his Christmas Gifts of Love concerts early, Manilow said, “The doctors do not believe it has spread and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis. So that’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”

Manilow also postponed his January tour dates, announcing the rescheduled dates for March and April.
