The Bachelor's Rachael Kirkconnell Clarifies Matt James Reconciliation Rumors
This story contains spoilers from the Jan. 27 episode of The Bachelor.
Alexe Godin’s journey to finding love is off to a rosy start.
Because while The Bachelor’s Grant Ellis met 25 stunning women during the season 29 premiere, it was the 27-year-old pediatric speech therapist who stood out to him the most—and ultimately earned the all-important first impression rose.
“I really enjoyed our time tonight,” Grant, 31, said before giving Alexe the coveted prize during the Jan. 27 episode. “Aside from being beautiful, I think that you're funny, you're smart, you're intelligent and I had a great time.”
Clearly flattered by the compliments, she thanked Grant for the distinction by going in for a kiss.
“I am so happy," she declared in a confessional interview. "It's validating that he's seeing me for who I am and enjoying my little quirks."
Alexe, who grew up on a farm in the eastern Canadian province of New Brunswick, is an avid animal lover and is fluent in French, according to her official bio. And true to her rural roots, she arrived at the Bachelor mansion with an adorable white llama by her side.
“Canadians are known to be some of the friendliest people in the world,” she explained as Grant smiled, "so I thought, 'Why not introduce you to my no-drama llama?”
And it seems like the sparks will continue to fly between Grant and Alexe as the weeks go on. In a trailer for season 29 released in December, the day trader—who emerged as a fan favorite on Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette—serenaded his love interest during a romantic one-on-one date as the two got cozy together at a grand piano.

“I am not used to dating emotional guys that write you songs and play the piano,” Alexe gushed in a confessional interview. “I’m having the best time of my life.”
Meanwhile, Grant made it clear that he’s looking for the real deal.
“I’m ready to get married,” he declared. “I’m ready to find my wife. I’m ready to have kids. I’m ready for everything.”
But would it even be a season of The Bachelor without a sprinkling of chaos amid all the romance?
“You act like you don’t care,” Dina Lupancu told fellow contestant Carolina Quixano in the teaser before she later declared, “I guess I’m crazy and evil.”
