An Australian social media star has slammed Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi's highly curated publicity tour for their new film Wuthering Heights.

Posting to Instagram, self-described 'cultural commentator' Kate Forster shared a rant video in which she declared she'd lost her patience with the Australian actors as they continue to ham up their deep bond for the media.

'I'm gonna say it, I'm sorry people. Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are annoying the s**t out of me,' the podcaster began.

'Nothing about this pairing feels inevitable and doomed or unholy. It feels f**king slick.'

Kate proceeded to take a dig at Margot's red carpet 'method-dressing' – a trend that sees actors dress in looks inspired by their characters rather than themselves.

Margot has leaned heavily into dramatic, gothic-inspired ensembles that appear designed to evoke Wuthering Heights rather than simply promote it.

'You've got Andrew Mukamal doing all the bloody, you know, styling for her. She's catting around in her Galliano and her knickers and her high boots. Oh, come the f**k on!' she groaned.

According to Kate, the approach feels more distracting than immersive.

'No amount of archival gowns or method posing or sultry looks or giant necklaces from faraway lands can make this interesting to me,' she said, dismissing it instead as 'a huge diversion.'

Elsewhere in her rant, Kate also took aim at Margot and Jacob's overly–affectionate displays during the press tour, including their matching rings and proclamations that they share a mutual 'obsession' with each other.

'What is really annoying to me is the insistence,' she explained.

'Oh look at the matching rings we've got!', and, 'We can't live without each other on set!', and, 'Jacob filled my f**king dressing room with – I don't know – black roses by way of Nick Cage!' I don't know, it's all a bit weird,' she complained.

Perhaps most brutally, Kate claimed Charlie XCX looks more like Wuthering Heights' protagonist Cathy Earnshaw, and not 'Margot by way of Pacific Fair shopping mall'.

Pacific Fair is a regional shopping centre on the Gold Coast, where Margot grew up.

Poking fun at the seemingly relentless marketing campaign for the film, Kate added: 'I'm just waiting for them to bring out the his and her Wuthering Heights fragrances. 'More' for her and 'Swamp' for him. Jesus Christ.'

'Anyway, will I watch this movie? Probably not, because it's already s**tting me, and that's my rant for the day,' she concluded.

Wuthering Heights opens in theatres in Australia on February 12.
