Though the official announcement of Black Flag Resynced expected to drop any day now, there's actually a brand-new Assassin's Creed adventure featuring Black Flag's iconic protagonist already slated to release on May 19 (via VIZ).
AC: Black Flag Officially Returns With New Sequel
Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple is an officially licensed manga series from VIZ Signature that follows up on Edward Kenway, the legendary pirate-assassin from AC: Black Flag. Written by ARC and with art by Tabii, the third issue in the ongoing series is scheduled to release on May 19, with the first two entries available to purchase now.
The Forgotten Temple manga follows Kenway on a new adventure set after the events of the game. He's drawn into a mysterious quest tied to a lost First Civilization site, and the third entry picks up where the previous issue left off. The story expands Kenway's character and deepens the overarching Assassin/Templar conflict within the franchise's lore, serving as a true sequel to the original story.
Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple #3 is available to pre-order online at most major book retailers (i.e., Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.), listed for roughly $20 USD.
AC Black Flag Hype Is Peak Right Now
The remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag has been a hot topic recently, after recent rumors and leaks seem to suggest it's definitely happening and could even be shadow-dropped in a matter of days. Fans have been waiting for an official Black Flag remake for ages, and it's widely regarded as the last truly great Assassin's Creed game from Ubisoft.
Further, a Black Flag remake is very likely to restore a bit of the confidence that's been lost in the series over the years among players. That said, it's a bit early to get our hopes too high at the moment, with the remake not even being officially confirmed and a timeline for its release uncertain as well.
If you can't wait any longer to return to the story of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, there's a surefire way to jump back into the role of Edward Kenway this spring with the release of Forgotten Temple #3, and it's the perfect time to get caught up with the series.
